Bee Hat has always been one of my favorite buildings, and this feature makes me like it even more!

Awesome. I had no idea.

Wonder what other unknown or hidden treasures exist downtown?

I haven't seen anyone mention it, but two of the retail tenets are Dubliners Irish Pub and a shop called Paper Dolls. I've been looking for more info on both, but have been able to find little.

This is from the first page in this thread...

Eleven terra cotta lion heads on the outside of the building are a signature feature of the structure. The heads were attached to the gutters and drained water to the street. BHat wants to link them up to steam lines and have each lion roar every half-hour or so, Burghoff said.

we walked by yesterday and checked out paperdolls boutique, it was really cool. also, the lion's were being tested too.

More developers should be doing fun stuff with their buildings too.

You can even hear the lions roar as the steam comes out of thier mouths

Pyramid oughta do the steam-thing with the "evil fish heads" on the Banker's Lofts just down the street.

New windows are being installed. It's amazing how much of a difference new windows can make.

I just walked by to check it out - the windows are in on the first floor, and the building looks better already!

It looks like Paper Dolls is already open..and that's just a small enclosed section of the first floor. Looks like Dubliner's is going to take up the rest! It's going to be friggin' huge. That'll be nice, since I'm in the Dorsa, I'll have a watering hole within stumbling distance :)

I'm sure I'm already being watched, tracked, recorded. I don't care if I'm not doing anything wrong, it's still illegal.

Anyway, we should have car bomb night sometime. The whole bar gets bombed!

Heck, I'll even do two! I was beginning to wonder when you'd figure out I was on here :)

After Dubliner's is properly christened...well, my place won't be done yet; I guess we could go to Banker's instead!

I toured the Bee Hat building, and admittedly, I was not impressed. Maybe it's because the units are rentals, but I was not crazy about the level of finish in them. The lion heads out front were operating, which was very cool, and I peered in the window to check out the progress of The Dubliner, which should be very nice.

I have to agree with you there. I also struck me that they didn't quite put as much effort into the display either. I mean, come on, all they had in the second bedroom was a lamp! They had way more time to get up a decent display then some.

Then again, I suppose if you're looking to rent, I wouldn't look at too much more than the basics. And variety is nice; any units that can be built downtown is a plus in my book.

Yeah, I looked in at Dubliner's too...they're getting the wood paneling up. I wonder if they'll stain it darker?
