It appears they are planning to open some of the upper bowl seating.  I heard on the street just 5K more seats.  KMOX and the Belleville News Democrat both report it. I guess I missed on STL TV and Print news.

KMOX: https://kmox.radio.com/articles/news/st ... -add-seats

Anyway, the cities chosen are actually huge TV markets. (Tampa is larger than Miami, go figure, but that's how the lines are drawn.) St. Louis is far and away the smallest. Back to city selection, cities had to pitch the XFL for a team. In the case of Tampa, maybe they thought fans would respond to an alternate team. It think the decision was based on a combination of who pitched, TV market and anticipated fan response.
Yeah, TV Market calculations are rather random, and seem to depend a whole lot on geography.  The Tampa TV market includes over 200 miles of Gulf coastline and a huge chunk of central Florida as well.  Some of that dates back to the launch of the TV stations, over-the-air broadcasting, and the fact that Florida is very flat...

The St. Louis TV Market is actually bigger than Chicago's - in terms of area - there just isn't much of anything or anyone around St. Louis past the exurbs.

Cool.
As a charter Rams season ticket holder and a season ticket holder thru 2010 when I saw the handwriting on the wall
and bailed that brought a tear to my eye reading the part about Randy's description the night the Rams left.
I good and drunk that night.  ;-)

If this league sees a second year it will owe St. Louis for getting it there

I know he’s eccentric, but I really don’t think Vince would relaunch without 3 or 4 years of operating expenses accounted for. They hired talented people, no one in the XFL front office was expecting perfect results and crazy revenue.

If they beat first year expectations they have St. Louis to thank.

My guess is TV ratings will bottom out for the weekends of the second round of March Madness through the opening series for MLB, and then see a big increase through the last two regular season weeks and the playoffs.  Hopefully, the increase will be enough to average 1.5 million viewers per game for the season, which would be a decent showing, and maybe enough to get similar national broadcast deals for season 2.

Vince has funded the league for three years.

Upper deck is officially open (only on the Battlehawks side of the dome). Club level section 333-349 and Terrace level 437-445.

Of those sideline upper deck sections they're selling, did they open the entire sections all the way up to the top? If so, they must've sold fast.

There are only a handful of tickets left up there in the open 400 sections and they're disappearing quickly every time I refresh.

Another problem they will face is the warming weather.   It is going to be over 70 degrees here Sunday.  I will not be in the house watching.  I will DVR and possible watch later in the day.

I hope it isn't brokers who swooped in and bought them.

you could only buy 2 at a time and i tried from 10:01 to 10:10 and it was all gone.   brokers got some but not that many, the ones they got are on the market for $40 now.    the team will probably open more seats next week i would imagine.   this is now the hottest ticket in town

It looks like they only sold tickets for a portion of the way up. Not all the way to the top.

If i ever a betting person i would put a small amount of money of the next home game (21st) not being played in front of fans, if at all.
in California, last night Indian Wells (the 5th grand slam of tennis), worth $40M in prize money was cancelled- matches were suppose to start today

Well - Indian Wells tennis is going to draw a lot more international fans than the XFL.  Players literally come from all over the world to play.  XFL would not be any different than other domestic sports going on at this time - Hockey, Baseball and Basketball.

Yes it brings players from all over the world- all in peak condition and low risk for catching this- the fans are still 90% locals. I’ve been there. Heck my cousin won the whole thing in 2010

you have a a fundamental misunderstanding of his point and my counter point here-  the event didnt get cancelled because it brings players from all over the world.  they're there already and will stay and practice until Miami Open March 23

Why didn't they play with no fans? Why cancel the tournament and forfeit the points for their year end race?

This wasn’t the tournament or ATP decision, it was the county where IW is located. You need 3-5 ball people, 7- 8 lines man per match and that’s hundred of people that will go out and interact with the general public between matches when they go home for the day. Don’t need any of that to practice

Who is your cousin? Ivan Ljubičić or Jelena Janković?
