Yeah, I guess you're right. It seems like a suburban casino on a river should be really high-class. You'd be shocked if you saw the Isle of Capri in Boonville. Can you believe its not just like going to Vegas?
I realize it is in the Midwest but still we could have higher standards. If we expect to rid ourselves of the hoosier perception then perhaps make an attempt.

A little insider info - I haven't read anything about this in any of the press releases. But this week, Several investors are in town from NY and LV and are planning to open a new club called Chateau. Something along the lines of 15-20k square feet. More details to come.

I think Ameristar is the nicest casino in town and don't think it looks cheap at all. After the Liddell/ Jackson fight I won $400 bones with one pull at the slots. (Not that that has anything to do with the interior finish). I'll be in Vegas next week and will be sure to be on the look out for any cheap looking interior design materials. I'm sure there won't be anything plastic or silicone out there. Did I just say that out loud?
I drove by the new hotel tower today, and I gotta say, it's actually not bad looking. Much nicer than I expected from the renderings.

being a St. Charles native I'm a little perturbed that this hotel tower, while it looks nice, is now the preeminent feature of the St. Chuck "skyline" rather than the old county courthouse. But I'll live with it.

Go over to the pinnacle thread. There are pages and pages of complaints and whines about "sh*t streaks" and "combovers". I just came into this thread and the first thing I saw was more complaining. I need to start popping Prosac after coming into these forums.
They added a new parking garage to the north (the left as you come in). As of right now few people use it.
God.. what garbage. welcome to America... that looks like a standard new Walgreens on steroids.

I guess they changed the name to HOME.
It reminds me of the clocktower from Back to the Future...without a clock that is...

I have a friend who works at Harrahs. The bosses there are scared: between Ameristar's expansion and the opening of Lumiere Place they're all worked up.
Apparently they're want to open a nightclub similar to HOME at Harrahs. They're fishing for out-of-town big club operators to come in and open a name spot. Supposedly this is different because usually Harrahs wants to run everything in-house.

Went to Home last night, this place is beautiful.
They have set the bar really high, I hope this convinces Lumiere to attempt something similar.

Paris Hilton was at HOME tonight
Still the best "scenery" in town.

^ She was also at the South County Macy's yesterday.
Apparently those that bought enough of her perfume were granted the privilege of being graced with her presence for a few seconds.

I went to HOME last night too. The place looks very top-notch. Not usually into the "club" scene but I had a blast. I left before Paris showed up, so I didn't get to see that little s--t. darn. too bad I doubt I'll ever go back because its: 1) in a casino 2) in St. Charles. Great space though. I'd like to see more of that caliber "build-out" around town.

Was it really a $60 cover for men and $30 for women?

^ Dunno, I've been several times and never paid a cover. Standard cover is $30 guys/$20 chicks.
