This area of sprawl is awesome... And by "awesome", I mean totally ridiculous...

How is a project that's building up (9 stories replacing basically a 2 story house) in the population crossroads of the metro considered 'sprawl?'

More than sprawl, I think the issue of disconnected development is the problem here. There may be just about any big box store you require, but there are also seven disconnected big box/strip mall developments here.

I said "the area". Meaning from the Galleria to Whole Foods-strip-mall-land thru Target-strip-mall-land thru Dierbergs-strip-mall-land to Best Buy-strip-mall-land and over to the Home Depot-area then right down the street to the Wal-Mart-Lowes-land... I want to say theres a "Sam's" over there too but can't recall for certain.

Jus' saying... Sprawling and uninviting to the average public transit pedestrian or cyclist.

^ Ah, not sprawl in terms of the status quo - that is, not sprawling beyond current development, but yes, more disconnected development.

agreed—very janky and disconnected. I was thinking sprawl like Warrenton and Foristell.

Hard to believe that they couldn't at least have the hotel face Brentwood Ave with a wide sidewalk to get a semblence of a continuous block with the office buildings. They would still be highly visible from Hwy 40 and parking could be in the rear like the rest of the buildings in the immediate area.

This is when lack of vision and planning goes wrong. Ugly design, ugly hotel, ugly intersection. This design screams 1995! Brentwood needs to get with program....seriously!

OMG, we're just so happy that someone, anyone, Drury none-the-less, would chose to put one of their big fancy buildings in our little community - if we had so much as sneezed, they would have built in...gasp, Richmond Heights! Luckily we won this one.

Looks like they've cleared the property and are starting to pour concrete.

I really wish Maplewood, Brentwood and Richmond Heights would merge into a single mid-county inner-ring power house. I'd like to include Ladue and Clayton, but those residents would never allow that in a thousand years.

^Clayton and Richmond Heights held official merger talks several years ago. Don't be so quick to lump in the Claytonites.

I thought it was initial steps with merging things like police, fire, parks, street maintenance etc and they couldn't even do that? I think all that came out of it was an exchange agreement between the pools at the end of the summer season when they rotate which locations are open/closed.

Bonefish Grill

(And just to clarify, this is a chain based on St. Petersburg, FL. The company also operates Outback and Carrabba's.)

For a chain place Bonefish isn't bad. Nothing great, but certainly a lot better than cr*ppy Red Lobster.

The other thing I noticed someone (Brentwood? The developer?) added sidewalks and ornamental street lights for pedestrians so they can walk to the Brentwood Promenade.
