Add in the complete lack of vision and planning for the Green Line, Rams money, and downtown office. Any updates on when that suburban billionaire who's actively worked to make STL worse is gonna reveal his plan more downtown offices from big companies? Or was that just a completely obvious ploy to get even more support behind the candidate he was buying? Im starting to think it's the latter.

I will give it to Spencer that she entered the office and the tornado hit.
As for the Green Line - is she being realistic?  Maybe too much due to federal and state transportation funding cuts. I would rather shelve the new metro line and wait until trump is out.  Keep planning the Green Line as a LRT.
Rams money. I agree, where are we? The County is using around 18 million to pay off debt.

From what I've seen the sentiment on Spencer one year in is if you voted for Tishaura Jones you think she's  doing a substandard  job.

If you voted for Spencer you are largely pleased.

Politically that's not a bad place for Spencer to be considering her margin of victory.

I undeestand that she will probably never be the fave of this forum and while some of that I get, I still don't see where Jones was this incredibly urbanist mayor.

Well then again you also could never provide a logical, fact based argument for any of your positions and I see that you still can't.

I simply pointed out that sentiment hasn't changed much in a year based on the admittedly scant polling and my own anecdotal discussions with voters.

But thanks for reminding me why I tend to avoid posting here.

I have seen a similar sentiment expressed with Cara and Tishaura voters.  Tishaura did champion some urban policies that have had a positive impact on the city.

I have a lot of friends that were Cara voters, and I'd say half of them are still upset about the recycling mess, I had to tell them about the "processed" recycling tons before vs after that we talked about upthread - but nobody knows that, so they thought we were basically recycling nothing...

I'm a Tishaura voter, and though I'd like to see more happening in development, the fact that crime continues its downward path, that's one of the most important trends I didn't want to interrupt and I'm glad to see the decrease continue. The Police budget has me on high alert, and if that doesn't get corrected, that will bad news. But I'm still open to see some big changes, though I give her a pass a bit for having a Tornado hit in her first few months. Still TBA for me.

Spencer may turn out to be one of the most reactive mayors we have ever had so far. I have a gut feeling she'll be a one termer.

I'm disappointed in Spencer on the bump out.

But you all are going to have to try a lot harder to get 64% of St. Louisians to miss Tishaura Jones and her felon dad.

The fact you constantly feel the need to bring up her dad says all anyone needs to know about you.

Still waiting for you to provide a logical, fact based, reasoned argument for any of the things you like to say. But I guess Jones' dad for some reason justifies all the bullsh*t Spencer has done in your delusional worldview.

This kinda weird cope reminds me of current Trump voters

My gas and groceries are up 40%, my health insurance is up 50%, and the president is covering up an elite pedophilia ring. But at least there won't be trans athletes competing in a 2028 Olympic sport that I won't be watching.

Also 64% didn’t even bother voting

Opinions like Baltimore Jack's, while unfortunately common, are unsophisticated in the extreme. As if you can expect so little of your elected leadership that you only can understand criticism of this decision as Tishaura's secret army of keyboard warriors or whatever tf.

Hope you didn't pull any muscles on that stretch.

A bump out is comparable to the Iran War and protecting pedophiles now?

C'mon.

You can't even recognize analogies😭

The analogy was:

[everything is generally going poorly for Spencer and she has done certain things Joens definitely wouldn't have done] --> [but you feel better because her dad is gone, which is a completely meaningless factor]

[everything is generally going poorly for Trump and he has dome certain things Harris definitely wouldn't have done] --> [but Trumpers feel better because no trans in sports, which is a completely meaningless factor]

Has nothing to do witn Iran or pedophiles specifically.

Absolutely no on Green. She's proven to not be very smart at her current job and she's been functionally aligned with Spencer on stuff like the Green Line being cut to BRT. She's also gonna have to survive a BOAP election first. Right now there's no one on the moderate side who could do what Lurie has done in SF and there's no one on the progressive side who could generate the energy like Mamdani has done in NYC.

This is also reflected in the fact 2026 is gonna be Cori "healing hands" Bush and Wesley "owned by AIPAC" Bell. Politics in STL is totally dead and the GOP isn't run by people like Kehoe or Blunt anymore either. It's bleak. I seriously wouldn't be shocked if 2029 is Spencer vs Jones or Green and that'll be incredibly sad. Hope I'm wrong though.

If I recall the general consensus on this site until a few weeks before the 2025 election was that Jones would win easily.

I'm not knocking anyone's political handicapping skills or anything. Just saying there's a lot of road between now and 2029.

The snow storm was like 3 months before the election, not a few weeks. Please stop making stuff up.
