Being in a Preservation Review District doesn't mean much apparently.
Right. Sounds like they should get rid of the "Review" part and apparently the "Preservation" part as well.

Parking is a huge negative for the city that the remaining buildings have to make up for and/or we accept lower levels of services and infrastructure.

I sent Marlene an email.  Whether or not she cares, is another question.

I've emailed Marlene, as well.  I don't have any expectations, but hopefully one of us hears something back.

Guess one could also write to the MLS4STL group but will have look for contact info.
Think they are missing a big opportunity to anchor the stadium with an authentic city experience

Let's hope what's in the permit database is a typo.

Sowing insolvency? The buildings are productive even in their current state. Assessed value per acre is $2.64M with the corner one at $4.2M. The parking on the same block $488k. Is there a replacement planned? Or as many of us fear, will they become more parking? That lost tax base is made up for higher taxes or lower levels of services and infrastructure.

I've talked to two reporters about this. Hopefully they'll get to the bottom of it.

Can anyone keep an eye on them? I checked them out Monday, but can't do it on a regular basis.

It won't take long to bring these down, unfortunately, so I'm not sure it will make any difference.

Anyway, this is probably about arriving at an equitable agreement with Stonemont Financial to acquire their parking lot on the stadium site. Note that Pitch314 started acquiring the 19xx Olive parcels last year, when they first started negotiating, well before the subject of eminent domain was broached. And if it resolves a potential stadium construction delay, the city isn't going to object for a strip of mostly unremarkable buildings.

I'm thinking it's probably cheaper to acquire and level this whole block than to compensate Stonemont directly for hundreds of parking spaces. The LC could retain ownership, lease this lot to Stonemont for parking for $1 a year at say 5-10 years, and then build their Soccer Village Phase II or III on it later...

But in the end, wasn't this supposed to go before the CRO at any rate? They shouldn't be pulling bricks before that's approved.  Then, of course, we've got that dumbass on 4th just taking apart his own building by himself.

They aren't Union Station, I agree. They're the sort of buildings that make a city a "city." We're being marketed that St. Louis CITY SC is for the city, that the stadium helps the areas surrounding it. it's hypocritical to then to contribute to its ruination and insolvency. And for what? The thing that has done so much of the ruining and bankrupting- cars.

^ something smells really fishy about all this. "Both alders are aware" and "CRO has not approved the permits" so whey the hell does the city website say permits have been issued? clearly the owners don't give a sh*t about fines and litigation or they wouldn't be trying to demo without approval.

Yeah, it doesn't make sense. The plumbing permits have disappeared from the Assessor's property lookup site

Crews were out digging in Olive today for the tap destroys, so they appear to be full steam ahead to try to get these buildings demolished.

I figure these were among the buildings along Olive that got shaved to widen Olive. Check out Olive at 12th to compare east and west to get a sense of how much was chopped off.

Can someone file an injunction? I guess the city is the only one who could do that?
