White separatists sue MetroLink parent

By Peter Shinkle

ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH

ST. LOUIS

The National Alliance, considered a neo-Nazi hate group, is suing the St. Louis region's transit agency over a decision in January 2005 to take down placards promoting the group on MetroLink trains.

The suit, filed with the help of the American Civil Liberties Union, says the decision by Bi-State Development Agency violated the group's right to free speech under the First Amendment.

The placards said, "The Future belongs to us!" It included a phone number for the organization and a reference to a Web site.

To be true to our founding fathers they formed a Democratic Republic and stressed the republic part more than the democracy making it possible to push some groups under the rug and the neo-nazis are one of them. The question is how. Honestly, do we really want posters of hate groups, child molester groups, and serial killer groups placed freely in public places because we value equality to the extent of allowing groups that violate the rights of others? There must be some clause in the Constitution about not violating the rights of others and truely actions of the National Alliance can prove that they are a violence promoting group which strips them of an equal status.

This could make STL the Nazi haven, I for one am scarred of that possibility and IMHO so are the region's Jews and minorities. What has happened elsewhere with this issue? Washington D.C. Expat?

The nazi losers have no case. Metro reserves the right to deny any ad it wants to. The lawsuit is a good thing-- the white trash losers will spend all their money on lawyers and still lose.

Who knows, they may not think they have a case... but could only want the press it may bring them. They already got a Post-Dispatch article out of it.

I say, let them hang their little signs up on the train. Publicize the heck out of it -- and then try to figure out where all the signs went when the train pulls into the station for the night.

The signs will be gone but I feel for the white guy who acts like an idiot and plays along with it as if it is a practical joke and gets harmed in the process like shouting for the cubs as Cardinal fans are leaving Busch stadium in droves after a game that they lost. Why would nazis use Metro anyways? Isn't it not white enough for them? I guess it's a power thing of just having the groups name visible.

Sincerely,

Same thing happened when the KKK adopted part of I55 south of 270. People kept taking down the signs, MODOT took a while to replace the signs, only to lose them a day later. lol

Now it's the Rosa Parks Highway.
