^Ha! Good one.

And I agree, Monk's Mound and all of Cahokia Mounds really deserve much more attention than they receive.

BTW, here's the building at Taylor and Olive:

So are there rules to this? The first person to answer correctly gets to post the next quiz? (Did this for a while on a naval discussion thread.)

Which means Framer gets to go again, right? Though we maybe skipped urban_diletante. If there's no rule like that I could probably be induced to post a couple.

No rules. The more pictures posted the better IMO. Its just a fun diversion.

If you follow my pictures this won't be any great mystery, but here's one I enjoy:

^You would know that! Heh! I thought I spent too much time in Midtown but I've got nothing on you, I suspect.

All right. Something a little different:

^Good guess, but no. This one is open to the public. Legal. Legit.

A hint; It's relatively close to this:

Anyway . . .

Here's a nice big one:

Recent discovery.

You're just posting some of my favorite areas! The Near North Riverfront Neighborhood is amazing in general (at least what's left of it).

I usually just read this forum, but couldn't help but chime in on this thread. Here's a photo from a few weeks ago in a more well-traveled neighborhood - Where in St. Louis am I?

Looking west down hunt about two doors down from Hunt and Newstead. Nice one. Not a lot to go on. At first I actually thought ITI at 4425 was A-Line Transmission back up north, since the buildings are similar sizes, styles, and colors. (And the neighborhoods are comparably industrial and broadly similar when you're actually in the thick of them.) But the pole line about had to be the pole line through Mill Creek Valley. At first that threw me a little. I actually figured you were looking south across the River DesPesperes towards the Hill when in reality you're looking just about due west onto the Hill. The stack on Gateway STEM threw me. It looks a lot more prominent from right there than maybe anywhere else. (Had to really carefully examine the pole and figure out the perspective before I could find it. Just kept looking past. Eventually when I was scanning over the map the right way I could find the building on the south side of the street with the peaked roof.)

Anyway . . . nice one! And generally a good spot for train spotting and industrial appreciation.

That is quite the detailed answer and right you are! As I was walking through here I dreamed of this block being a mini commercial node for the south side of the neighborhood some day.

Getting away from industrial grit for a while, here's a little detail shot I thought was interesting.

Hmm interior or exterior? It looks like it would be a ceiling of a foyer in midtown / Locust Business District.

It is a ceiling, but it's an exterior structure. A pavilion of sorts. Kind of a quiet corner in the back of other more famous things. Not Midtown. Not Locust. Quite solidly in the city, though. More details later if no one gets it.

It looks vaguely Islamic, and I remember that you posted some pics previously of an Islamic Garden at Shaw's Garden, so that's my guess.

^Yep. It's the interior of the dome here:

See, that's one problem: I have no decent local pics I haven't posted. :D

Maybe this is sort of worth a shot. (I kind of like it, in any case.)

Here's a shot with a somewhat recognizable landmark in it:

Old post office it is. And the alley behind 3623 Gustine at Gustine and Gravois. You're getting into my old stomping grounds there. :)

This one shouldn't be too difficult:
