I thought it would be interesting to start a topic on this forum to see where people work (as in, the area) and how they get there.

I live in Lafayette Square and work downtown near the Arch.

On a typical non-winter week, I carpool 1-2x, especially if the weather is bad. The rest of the week I typically take an electric scooter to work. I also have a Metro pass so I occasionally take the 11 Chippewa bus or the 31 Chouteau to MetroLink if I can't carpool and the weather is not great.

When I take the electric scooter to work, I now have a nearly fully protected bike lane from point A to point B: Jefferson to Scott to 22nd to the I-64 underpass to 21st to Brickline to 20th to Chestnut to 7th. When scooting home, I typically use Market (since Chestnut's protected lanes are only eastbound) all the way to 21st Street. Yesterday I used the new Tucker cycle track to Chouteau though.

Total commute time from door to door is typically between 10 and 15 minutes.

I leave my bed on the second floor, descend for coffee on the 1st floor, the ascend two flights to my private office on the 3rd floor.

Denis - great humble brag with that curved monitor. Love the setup, jealous of that beast!

Jealous of both of you. Although I do get to work from home occasionally.

I live in U City (north of Olive) and work in U City (south of Olive). It's a five minute drive each way.

I live in the CWE and start with an 8 minute walk either through the BJC campus pedestrian plazas or along Forest Park, then a 9 minute Metrolink ride to Civic Center where I work near City Hall. About 20-25 minutes in total, but the walk at the beginning of the day is great to clear my head and get me moving and I get some quick reading or crossword in on the train. If it's downpouring or really cold I'll drive, but parking isn't overly convenient or cheap near my office on a daily basis.

Bedroom to home office, but I do often miss the daily routine and rhythm of the walk + metrolink ride to downtown. Just not when it's raining or freezing cold.

Well, I am among those who office moved from Downtown (live in Lafayette Square and drove, 5-10 minutes) but now my office has moved to Earth city and i am required to have a minimum of 60% of my time in office.  The typical 20-25 minute drive is about 35 if there are no accidents or other unexpected traffic issues.  Any accident, and its easily 45-50 minutes.  My longest was over an hour.

To prevent the extended commute I was logging on from home to start, and finishing at home.  But now, that time counts against me.  Thus, I try and get up earlier.  I hope to retire in a few years if this continues.  I don't want to work in an Earth City industrial park where I can not even walk to get lunch.  The location is very car dependent.  I have been with this company 24 years.

Someone who prefers their office in Earth City to downtown genuinely has brain damage. Your colleagues are unwell.

I'm a trip chaining machine (which I think is way overlooked in a lot of the urbanism discourse). 90% of my commutes are on a cargo bike: Bike 1/2 mile to drop off first child, bike another 1.5 miles to drop off second child - both in U City. Then Centennial Greenway -> Forest Park -> BJC Campus (another ~4 miles, I think). It's about 35 mins. The "ugh, it's gross out commute": Walk first child 1/2 mile to school. Pawn second child off on spouse. Walk additional 1.5 miles to metro stop. Train it on in. About 40 mins.  The "ugh, it's really gross out commute": Go to my basement.

I am a part time real estate consultant & appraiser (less than 20 hours) for a cpa firm specializing in LIHTC and live in Webster groves and our office is in Clayton (was previously at 600 Washington). About 10 min drive with no traffic or 15 minutes with. I am only in office 1 day a week. Most people are commuting from Ballwin and west county.

I am also a realtor and drive all over the place but our office is in Kirkwood. 5 min away from that.

Let me know if you ever want to talk real estate! I have an urban planning bachelors background too!
