600 sqft? That's pretty small, especially for a west end location. Not that there's anything wrong with it, but who's going to pay $150K for 600 square feet. It seems that would only be useful for temporary executive / corporate housing.

Well, my first shared apartment was a 950-sqft one bedroom. It was enough room for a couple; but with both of us needing home office space the dining area had to go. And thus we never had people over for dinner.

And that was an apartment -- when people own generally they want to be able to have more control of the space, store more things, etc. I'm not advocating that everyone buy a 5000 sqft vinyl McMansion, but it seems that in a "non-downtown" condo the practical minimum should be about 800 or so.

sorry man. Hope no offense was taken. My first place was 1041sqft and it was just 2bd 2bth small kitchen small den and tiny laundry. I couln't imagine living there with more than 1 other person. I guess it's just what you're used to. 8)

I stopped in and checked the West End Lofts out this last weekend. Looks like they've done a decent job selling the place. All of the smaller/lower priced units and most of the higher end units are sold. Plus some of the decent designs in the mid priced level are almost out.

They still only have the first floor show room that has a lot of high end upgrades on display.

Though the area around the building still looks pretty rough. The storage place, Goodwill etc. I hope this will spur further development in the area between BJC/I-64/Grand/Forest Park Pkwy

^Incidentally, I talked to one of the managers at "the storage place" a while back. Supposedly, they have had offers, but might actually rehab the building themselves for residential when the time is right. Apparently, they do that kind of thing in other markets.

But considering they make about $15-$20/SF annually, with little initial investment and almost zero maintenance required, I would say the time will not be right for quite a while.

For years, this building has been an absolute eyesore on the parkway. Now it is remarkable how this building has been polished up to be one of the most positive standout rehabs on the strip. Classy rehab.

i love how they added patios ("outdoor areas") to many of the units. definitely an upgrade from the metal balconies you see on many of the lofts downtown.

Man, they must be pushing hard on the sales. I've gotten like 4 different flyers in the mail from them in the last month: pretty much once a week.

^ They do - and so do exposed brick walls and wood beam ceilings, but it's nice to see something a little different.

don't get me wrong, i like 'em too but i like the open patio areas even more. as a matter a fact, pyramid was supposed to have built a metal balcony on my unit but later came up with a lame excuse for not adding one. :?

From 120 units it looks like they're down to 15 remaining:
