Wow, still no one. I absolutely love this proposal. I keep looking back at it. It gives me a tingle of excitement every time. I just can't imagine anything better than being able to walk or ride all the way around the grounds as easily as their plan would make it. Can you imagine the views of the Arch from the pedestrian bridge attached to the PSB? That kind of view alone would be enough to draw people out across the water onto the East side in a way that none of the other proposals would. It would also make the Arch grounds an ESSENTIAL part of any downtown resident's weekend, turning the Arch into what it always should have been...the communal center of the city. Can you imagine a greater stimulus for downtown redevelopment?

I agree - there's a lot to like here. Full review: http://urbanstl.com/index.php?option=co ... &Itemid=18

I think a number of the components they propose are the best of any team - the museum/trainspotting cafe, the east side, the pedestrian bridge... I love looking at it - for what it's worth they really nailed the renderings and presentation. Though I will say that if you're trying to learn more from the entire narrative, there's not a whole lot there.

Personal favorite (along with Benisch) -

Great treatment of Wash ave. love the ice rink / beer garden
Urban bluffs are the best treatment at the rivers edge of all.
Brdge over the river takes away the ugly from the PSB
Oxbow lake on the east side is good proposal

This is one of my favorites. I love the pedestrian bridge and canals on the East side. Also, the islands and the peek at the river from the museum through the Arch steps. I think it makes sense to put parking under Luther Ely Smith park, where visitors might expect it -- and it draws them back to downtown after visiting the Arch, rather than to a peripheral parking garage. One question: Would an amphitheater work on the South end of the Arch grounds? I would think it might be too close to Poplar Street Bridge traffic noise, but I can't recall how loud that is. It looks like they show some kind of noise shield in back of the stage, and it is facing in good direction from a sunshine standpoint.
