WashU announced multiple investments to start-ups. See all winners here. The big winners, WashU Venture Network Follow-on Investment, are required to be previous Arch Grant winners, have ties to the school, and show a strong commitment to remaining in St. Louis. Three companies were awarded $50,000 each and received direct consultation from WashU business teams over multiple months.
  • AirSeal – This medical technology company is developing a novel blood test for peripheral arterial disease, with intellectual property licensing obtained in partnership with WashU. AirSeal is located in BioSTL in the Cortex Innovation District.
  • uFab – The rapid-turn circuit board startup, focused on domestic manufacturing, is committed to hiring from WashU and Ranken Technical College. uFab has a space in the Cortex Innovation District, one of the few remaining industrial builds on Sarpy.
  • WingXpand – A modular drone company with applications in defense, emergency services and agriculture, WingXpand also has strong ties to St. Louis’ geospatial and aerospace sectors. WingXpand is the largest of the winners and is located in T-Rex Downtown.
Let's see what they can do! Thrilled to see three city start-ups!

This is great, of course, but I can't imagine $50,000 goes very far in the tech world.
