Washington University is so civic minded. Their taking space in CORTEX 1 could help expedite development of other CORTEX buildings. The sooner these buildings fill up the better. It would definitely bring St. Louis to the attention of outside developers and biotech firms.

Washington U. leases midtown lab space

St. Louis Post-Dispatch

Washington University Medical School said it has signed a letter of intent to lease 40,000 square feet of laboratory and office space in a midtown facility being constructed as part of a biotech industry-building effort.

The school has yet to determine which of its programs will use the space, said spokeswoman Joni Westerhouse. Terms of the deal weren't disclosed.

The building, at the corner of Boyle Avenue and Forest Park Parkway, is the first physical undertaking of the Cortex initiative to establish a biotech business corridor in the area.
