Can you find other neighborhoods too?

Those pictures should be made into a book with early photos, '60s transition pics, and today.

The Images of America book on Soulard compared to this slate of pics does not do enough justice in showing what the neighborhood once was and it looked not too shabby, some rough spots.

Someone w/ a digital camera and the time (beer city has neither) should go to those addresses and do before and afters-

In the very early 80's a very progressive teacher from my grade school scheduled a field for us, we toured houses being restored and walked the neighborhood and learned the history, that was probably only a few years removed from your photos. Though I can not remember specifics of the field trip, I do remember learning that St. Louis was unique because of neighborhoods like Soulard preserving the past was important to our future.

I am actually doing that for a project for one of my classes, "The Urban Crisis." I needed some Soulard pics, so I will definately use some of these. I will post the project in early May for you all to see. Btw, does anyone have any old pics that are really unique or would make a good place to do a before and after? I am always looking for more.

Those are great. One thing I noticed is that there aren't many trees planted on the sidewalks like there are now. The roots seem to be pushing up the sidewalk in some spots, I wonder what they are doing to the old foundations.
