Yet another blanket statement. The building in question was an active industrial manufacturing facility as recently as three years ago.

Here's some more real, local examples of industrial/residential cohabitation.

Tower Grove South

The Grove

Mcree Town

No need to get so snippy.

I couldn't mash the nuances of zoning into a couple sentences I typed while at work.

So those sites you listed are contaminated to the point of endangering the health of the nearby residents?

I obviously wouldn't be able to answer that question.

^I'm not sure what your point was with those examples, can you expand? In at least two of those examples, probably three (I'm not positive about Tower Grove South), the industrial use preceded the residential. People chose to live near the industrial areas, probably because it was cheaper and because that is where the jobs were.

I'm pretty sure all of those areas predate the passage of zoning laws, as well.

When: Tonight, October 30, 2008, 7:00pm

Where: St. Ambrose Church Cafeteria (at the corner of Hereford and Wilson)

Hope to meet some of you folks there; I'll be the younger guy with the big beard and horn-rimmed glasses.

Thanks for the update. Please let us that cannot attend know what happens.

Also, why is it called the Magic Chef redevelopment? What connection is there?

According to others in the neighborhood, the manufacturing site was once used by Magic Chef to make small kitchen appliances. I'm pretty sure the site has been through several iterations, the last of which was a bottle making facility for P&G. And, of course, you have the Alfa Pet portion of the facility at its northeast edge, which I believe is to remain as a part of the redevelopment.

I'll definitely paraphrase and report back to the group.

Sorry to repeat, but does anyone have the details/status of this proposal?
