Again, MIC. I'm not surprised because the $1T military budget has to go somewhere.

Don’t be surprised if Boeing goes from 18,000 to 25,000-30,000 jobs here by end of decade
That would be great! I think I heard somewhere that McDonnell Douglas peaked somewhere in the neighborhood of 50K employees in the glory days. No idea how accurate that is.
I think it topped out around 42,000 in 1990

I hope all of that growth goes to Belleville and Mid-America. Time to balance out the region.

Even if just a few jobs are moved, I'm really glad about the positive headlines. Additionally, I believe this will make it more likely that STL will be selected for more manufacturing activity since we already have a big presence and the rationale of the top management of Boeing is to have the top management close to the production sites.

I agree, it would be nice for manufacturing activity to expand there

Isn’t the NoVA operation mostly lobbying?  Makes sense to keep it in DC.

Good news, and with Phantomworks plus growth opportunities seems like we should take this for the win it is.

The main Boeing HQ is now in Crystal City, VA following its relocation from downtown Chicago. AFAIK, it will remain the HQ for commercial jetliner production and, of course, retain all lobbying efforts in the DC Metro area. I view the Defense HQ coming back to STL as a significant validation for the work done here, as well as the growing efficacies the region has towards advanced manufacturing and human talent skill sets. My immediate hope is that this furthers the full buildout of the Brownleigh and Northern Tract redevelopments towards new manufacturing, both phases of expansion. Meanwhile, we're gonna be building a whole lot of F-15EXs and F-47s over the next few decades, plus CCAs, all worth multiple billions of dollars. It just makes sense that the C-Suite should overlook this work.

That's very significant as. Even though going from 1 plane per month to 2 planes doesn't sound as much it will happen early in 2027 and also considering a unit cost of $90 million it means $1 billion in additional production value per year.

UrbanSTL, where killing innocent schoolgirls is accepted.

Meanwhile the entire reason this war is even happening is the completely baseless allegations from Benjamin Netanyahu.

Seriously, though, regarding Boeing: How the hell did Kuwait manage to shoot down three U.S.  F-15s?

Apparently not as young as you? Were you not alive when we went to war over weapons of mass destruction? Were you not alive 6 months ago when we "obliterated" Iran's nuclear capabilities? Netanyahu has been saying Iran is a week away from a nuke for 25 years lmao.

I'm sure you're right though, we are totally justified in bombing a country, killing innocent civilians, despite the Pentagon saying there was no evidence Iran was preparing an attack, like Netanyahu claimed.

The fact you're calling someone naive over the world's most obvious MIC war is just too funny. You should be happy though, it means more money and jobs for St. Louis.

I didn’t call you naive. Shows you’re way too emotional and, frankly, unstable. Good luck to you.

The War in Iran, MIC, and Boeing Defense are all inherently connected. War and killing innocents is directly related to more jobs in St. Louis.

No. Don’t start a new thread. UrbanSTL doesn’t need a thread on the Iran war. If anyone is so motivated to talk about Iran they should go to Reddit, X, Facebook. Mods need to start holding standards on the quality of content.

This isn't an opinion one way or another on the war. It's a statement that I don't come here to see the arguing about a war that has very little to do with St. Louis Urban Planning & Economic Development. There are ENDLESS places to argue about the war, there is only one place to follow St. Louis urban planning & economic development. Two if you include Denis on twitter.

Imagine thinking the military industrial complex does not impact the economic development of St. Louis, the headquarters and manufacturing site of Boeing Defense.

I would love to live in the fantasy land you live in.

The military industrial complex has an impact on literally every region. Phoenix builds helicopters. St. Louis builds planes. Southern California builds space and satellite systems. Bombs and bullets are built in Texas, Tennessee, Kansas, Oklahoma. The intelligence that determines where to drop the bullets and bombs is manufactured in Virginia. There are nearly 500 military bases in every corner of the US contributing to economic development. This is like seeing a car crash and saying "thanks a lot Detroit. You should be ashamed of yourselves."
