^This Forbes article is really a top notch piece for the STL.petetch wrote: ↑2:28 PM - Feb 08I’m going to drop this idea here and maybe through our collective networks it one day leads to something… but I was completely stunned by the scale and regionally specific subject matter of Anselm Kiefer’s exhibit at the St. Louis Art Museum this past winter. The largest pieces will remain in the main hall until Summer 2027…
I think it would be amazing to have our new terminal incorporate these massive (30 feet x 30 feet!) pieces into the design as a central installation. Kiefer is an internationally renowned artist and these works were inspired by the river confluences around our region.
Plus, they’re kind of unsettling like the art at Denver International Airport, which creates buzz while also a rooting travelers to a sense of place here.

January international loads (Customs)
Lufthansa Frankfurt 83.70% - big jump over past years
Southwest Cabo 76.60%
AC Toronto 64.24%
Frontier Punta Cana 60.83%
Alaska Puerto Vallarta 32.72% - I think they added 2 extra flights on the front end somewhat recently that probably didn’t help this number.
Cancun - I can't break out between AA/Southwest/Frontier until DOT numbers come out.

While the Lufthansa flight takes a break this February it has been loaded in the schedule for February 2027. So hopefully it sticks around in February next year. Still plenty of time for it to change but good to see it there for now

AA and United are in a big time fight at Ohare. Untied upping frequency from STL to ORD to 12x a day. AA 8x a day. Southwest also is 6x to midway.
Fares as low as $46 for Basic and $73 for regular economy one way.

12? Holy cow! UA really is trying to corner O'Hare, aren't they. Any idea what this is likely to mean for us? I was pleasantly surprised the Admiral's Club was up and running at o god o' clock when we were there for the first leg of our present TPAC odyssey. Seemed busy enough, too. (Though obviously still much reduced from hub days.)
It’s going to make connections in ORD to Europe more competitive. Especially those not going directly to LHR or FRA.
Was able to fly very affordably to CDG doing this a couple years back even with more expensive ORD flights.addxb2 wrote: ↑3:52 PM - Feb 15It’s going to make connections in ORD to Europe more competitive. Especially those not going directly to LHR or FRA.
Last I heard was April-ish. That was in December. So not sure if anything changed since thenbwcrow1s wrote: ↑12:11 PM - Feb 17Any update on expectations for renderings?

^And I completely forgot to look and see if there was any visible change in C/D. I assume they're still moving forward with work to reopen the rest of C and D for the move?
Yeah but its still a year off so I don't think much has happened yet.symphonicpoet wrote: ↑3:39 AM - Feb 18^And I completely forgot to look and see if there was any visible change in C/D. I assume they're still moving forward with work to reopen the rest of C and D for the move?
Guessing we will still have less frequency to ORD/MDW compared to when TW and WN were battling it out. TW used to run 11-12 flights daily to ORD and WN would run a similar number to MDW then you still had the AA and UA flights.

Just saw that UA is upping STL-ORD frequency to 12x starting in May. Massive expansion overall at ORD for UA. Will AA try to follow? (My local airport went from 4x daily up to 8x daily to ORD)pdm_ad wrote: ↑11:42 AM - Feb 18Guessing we will still have less frequency to ORD/MDW compared to when TW and WN were battling it out. AA did it to 8, so now we have 26 daily flights to ORD/Midway
UA 12
AA 8
SW 6
UA 12
AA 8
SW 6

If UA is starting a gate war at ORD, could AA jump ship and increase ops at STL? Or would they just throw more at DFW/CLT? Kind of a huge hole in the middle of the country if they lose ORD.
Nice to have frequency. I also spot checked fares and it's under $100 round trip for the early morning flights a couple of months out. Under $150 mid day.dbInSouthCity wrote:AA did you it to 8, so now we have 26 daily flights to ORD/Midway

Note that both United and Lufthansa are Star Alliance. So, this increase will likely see more fliers to Stuttgart. Good times.
Unfortunately, I think that will not happen as AA will still want a big presence in Chicago metro area probably just on relative size versus much smaller St. Louis Metro area. Especially when you consider that Milwaukee/Southern Wisconsin is not that far away. AA will complete to a point but I assume they will also keep building up DFW massively as well. So St. Louis as hub still doesn't make any sense. It is like Delta wanting to make Memphis a hub again but instead add/take away flights from MSP or Detroit and or AA making Pittsburgh a hub again but instead add/take away flight from Charlotte..Bart Harley Jarvis wrote: ↑3:06 PM - Feb 18If UA is starting a gate war at ORD, could AA jump ship and increase ops at STL? If it was from the kmov article I reached out to the reporter on it and he said he had it misquoted as February.
FYI, DHS is closing down pre check and global entry until the shutdown is over. Doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to me since that just adds more stress to the system, but just be aware if you are flying soon.
