Happy Election Day. Thank goodness we’re here. Just remember, mayors have very little impact on the trajectory of our city. And our downtown still lacks compared to our peers. That’s all.

Most of our suburbs suck If you’re not within 5 miles of HWY 40
"Quite simply [insert Spencer campaign slogan]."Baltimore Jack wrote: ↑Apr 08, 2025My argument is that while Jones has made some progress on important issues facing the city she makes too many unforced errors. Gets caught up in too many personal feuds and has shown lackluster response in too many cases. Quite simply we can do better.
I'm just one voter as are you. I have not harangued a single Jones voter as to their preference so I'm not sure why you feel the need to do so to me.
Have a nice Election Day.
I love St. Louis elections. I hope it’s more competitive than we thought following the primary. My plans? Snacks, a joint, and watch Curb Your Enthusiasm until results come in.
I think the elections desperately need to be aligned with the state and federal elections.

I think final turnout will be 45,000 to 50,000 voters out of 196,340 active RVs (there is another 15-20,000 inactive)
23-25.4% turnout

What is "race hustling"?Ebsy wrote: ↑Apr 08, 2025It is disappointing to say the least that Jones and her supporters have been out there this last week race hustling like we are back the 1990s rather than losing with any sort of dignity.

Phrase weirdo whites use when they think they’re the ones mainly affected by decades of racismpreservation.research.office wrote: ↑Apr 08, 2025What is "race hustling"?Ebsy wrote: ↑Apr 08, 2025It is disappointing to say the least that Jones and her supporters have been out there this last week race hustling like we are back the 1990s rather than losing with any sort of dignity.
Something liberals like to say to act like we are "beyond racism" and pretend that lots of people these days don't still factor in race when they vote.preservation.research.office wrote: ↑Apr 08, 2025What is "race hustling"?Ebsy wrote: ↑Apr 08, 2025It is disappointing to say the least that Jones and her supporters have been out there this last week race hustling like we are back the 1990s rather than losing with any sort of dignity.

Totally agree. We should have the mayoral elections during the national midterms.Auggie wrote: ↑Apr 08, 2025I think the elections desperately need to be aligned with the state and federal elections.
Did the voters of Tower Grove East and Tower Grove South--arguable the most progressive precincts in the state--become racist just because they aren't supporting Jones for reelection?
Sorry but that's laughable. She's just a mediocre mayor who is a disappointment to those who thought she'd be an agent of change only to see her squander that goodwill by fighting these silly political family battles from 3 and 4 decades ago.

I genuinely ignorant do you have to be to think that race doesn't play a factor in city-wide elections?Baltimore Jack wrote: ↑Apr 08, 2025Did the voters of Tower Grove East and Tower Grove South--arguable the most progressive precincts in the state--become racist just because they aren't supporting Jones for reelection?

Donna Baringer replaces Darlene Green (probably the biggest upset tonight - 51.53% to 48.47%).
Cara Spencer took 64.17% of the vote

^ biggest surprise is how close Dallas Adams came to beating Shane Cohn, who’s been an alder since 2009
Any idea about the suburban mayoral elections? Literally zero clue who any of these people are or if they're steps in the right direction or the wrong.
Baringer easily the most devastating result for the city tonight.

For the first time in 37 years, the City’s E & A Board will be all white, in 1988 it was all white until Virvus Jones joined it and it become all white again when TJ lost and his successor Darlene Green lost tonight
Will have to see if Spencer continues the violence intervention programs that Jones brought in. That's really the only thing the city has control over now.chris fuller wrote: ↑Apr 09, 2025Time will tell

Police is in the state's hands and crime stats are now on them. Not Spencer.
Jones will always have her great crime numbers that STL didn't give a sh*t about.
