This is just bringing back a Bow Tie Bar feature that was discontinued last season when the 703 Club opened.dweebe wrote: ↑Mar 26, 2025The $5 beers* throughout the game is a telling sign of the current state of the team.Busch Stadium’s Budweiser Terrace will have several new features in 2025, including new furniture and $5 draft beers offered throughout games. Fans could previously buy $5 beers in the stadium’s Budweiser Bowtie Bar, which was replaced in 2024 with a new all-inclusive section.
*(Yes, I know they're the small 12oz Bud and Busch Light)
Delaware North has a program with their employees that allows them to work at any stadium that they contract with. For example, a Busch food employee could go work at Kauffman Stadium if the Cardinals are out of town. Because of this, Delaware North prefers each work environment to be virtually the same or very similar so they don't need to train them very much.dweebe wrote: ↑Mar 26, 2025That's a difference in management. Enterprise Center and Energizer Park are both run by Levy while Busch concessions are run by Delaware North. As it's been told to me Levy will cooperate decently with locals which is why those two venues are majority that type. But supposedly Delaware North is a lot less accommodating and has a very narrow path of rules to work within. Does anyone remember the drama when Gioia's went into Busch Stadium and didn't even make it through the first home stand?delmar2debaliviere2downtown wrote: ↑Mar 26, 2025Good to see the addition of a local restaurant.
Not exactly how one would work out the details, but I’d like to see the Cardinals try something like offering some limited number of discounted or no fee leases in the stadium for one year for a restaurant that opens a new brick and mortar within a defined downtown boundary. City already has all the local restaurants in its stadium but maybe as their stake downtown increases, could be something to explore there too.
They are also very resistant to allowing outside employees to work in Delaware North food stands.
All of this just confirms you won't see much change at Busch StadiumAuggie wrote: ↑Mar 26, 2025Delaware North has a program with their employees that allows them to work at any stadium that they contract with. While I'm over-posting.....
Cards 85-76.
Andre Pallante comes in 12th place in NL Cy Young voting.
Bold prediction.

79-83. 4th in NL Central
Donovan, Nootbar, Burleson, and Walker all hit 20+ home runs
Offense is somewhat exciting for 14th in league but pitching ranks 24th in ERA
Cardinals go on a run in june after a middling start to keep it interesting but fizzle in July and August.
Arenado and Helsley traded at deadline
This isn’t a good team people but they will have moments. Everyone should go and fill downtown anyways. If not to support the Cardinals, support downtown and our city. Downtown needs it

Looking like attendance is going to be close to or over 48k, higher than last season.

I’ll be there. I know they had to do some unique things this year to get opening day tickets sold. They offered a lot of 25% off corporate discounts and things like that.
I think the Cardinals end up being a middling .500 team. The Cubs are a bit overrated at an 87 projected win total.

Good win today
There are some fun weekend series even if the team isn’t great that people should go, as tickets may even be pretty affordable - Phillies, Mets, Cubs, Braves, Dodgers, Yankees all at Busch this year for Fri-Sun. That’s a tremendous slate

Busch Stadium allows outside food into the venue. So this really makes no sense for the Cardinals.
This is the move.Auggie wrote: ↑Mar 28, 2025Busch Stadium allows outside food into the venue. So this really makes no sense for the Cardinals.
I bring a little 6 pack cooler with water and soda and hit up a hot dog stand outside the stadium and bring those in.
Cardinals opening weekend attendance is getting extremely low:
2023: 137,635
2024: 124,120
2025: 105,030
It's down 18% from last year, down 31% from 2023.

IMO, baseball is mostly boring (similar to football), and shrinking (or totally undiscussed) amongst my circle.Auggie wrote: ↑Mar 30, 2025Cardinals opening weekend attendance is getting extremely low:

It's nice as a novelty at this point, a place to slug a pint or two and a dog and leave in the 7th inning and go to a pub, but the idea of spending $100-$200 to roast in the sun with sparse action is.. eh. And money is tighter. Even if you make the tickets next to free it's still an endeavor for a family just to get down there. And an unsure team result?
I might be biased too coming from a hockey upbringing.

The Cardinals have generally been outliers in the MLB.
The Blues are also in an attendance slump, being down 2.3% from last season despite looking like they're gonna be a playoff team.

Blues attendance lagged because the first 2/3rd of the season was pretty rough. Even up until early February the team was way down in the standings and at a 6% chance to make the playoffs according to moneypuck.com. It wasn't until they came back from the Four Nations tournament and went on a winning streak that they transitioned to a playoff team.Auggie wrote: ↑Mar 31, 2025The Blues are also in an attendance slump, being down 2.3% from last season despite looking like they're gonna be a playoff team.
"The Blues are the hottest team in the NHL since the 4 Nations Face-Off, however, and that’s led to renewed fan interest. St. Louis has sold out Enterprise Center in four consecutive games. Looks like the franchise is finishing strong on and off the ice." - Athletic article written 4 days ago.

I think the weather may have been a factor. While I generally agree that attendance has gone down, so has the overall product on the field in recent years. That being said, Opening Day was a sell out, but Sat. was dreary with drizzle & Sunday had thunderstorms & severe weather in the forecast. The game ended up being delayed. That is never a good thing on a Sunday when people want to get home & prepare for Monday morning. Had it been sunny & 70 degrees all weekend, I think there would have been a significant bump in attendance.Auggie wrote: ↑Mar 30, 2025Cardinals opening weekend attendance is getting extremely low:

While the 3-0 start is great, I don't see the Cards competing for the long haul. I would be thrilled to be wrong, but I expect attendance to dip as the Cards fall further in the standings.
I'm still calling it that this will be a rough year. My guess is still 70-92.
But Auggie feels that's not an excuse. The arena should be full even when the team is losing.legendrey wrote: ↑Mar 31, 2025"The Blues are the hottest team in the NHL since the 4 Nations Face-Off, however, and that’s led to renewed fan interest. Yeah, the Blues really weren't competitive all season long until after the 4 Nations and they seriously caught fire.
As an example: You could buy a pair of tickets for a weekday game for ~$20 earlier this year. Now those games are getting ~$100 for a pair of upper deck shoot twice seats.
The Blues were in a lottery position earlier this year (Top 10 draft pick) but are now knocking on the playoff's door. They're in charge of their own destiny as well.

I was really just responding to his claim that we had only one sellout recently, which appears to have been deleted. I actually agree we should strive for sellouts every game regardless of on-field performance. We've been very spoiled as fanbases over the past 15-20 years, think we can endure a couple year downturn.dweebe wrote: ↑Mar 31, 2025But Auggie feels that's not an excuse. Weather was 100% a factor as was the competing City game down the street. With local news over blowing a potential event and predicting the worst between 12-1pm, the ticket market collapsed for both games (I snagged City tickets for next to nothing). There is malaise with the Cardinals lack of investment in the off-season, but if the product on the field is entertaining, fans will come out this summer. Small sample size, but I really enjoyed watching this team play over the weekend.DogtownBnR wrote: ↑Mar 31, 2025I think the weather may have been a factor. This just isn't a good excuse when the Bruins, Predators, and Kraken have averaged sellouts all season.Otthouse wrote: ↑Mar 31, 2025Yeah, the Blues really weren't competitive all season long until after the 4 Nations and they seriously caught fire.
