What would have caused the dip in 63102?

then it would be interesting to know the purported reasons.

Sometimes big downtown swings in one Q and big up swings in next Q usually means some businesses didn’t file on time the first Q. We’ll have to wait and see next Q. Year end 2023 for 63102 was +6% over 2022

I believe 63102 is closest to the river (Archgrounds, Laclede's Landing, Chouteau's Landing) and also includes Ballpark Village/Stadium/Downtown South.  63101 includes the Convention Center and the bulk of the core CBD. 63103 roughly starts at Tucker and extends to Grand.... includes TopGolf and the upcoming Target.

Maybe Downtown should be carved out in a way from the City of St. Louis and given to a regional government. Joking.

BUT 10% of regions population shouldn’t be responsible for maintaining the regions image and at this point I’m not sure the city has the capacity or interest in doing it.

At times it feels as if the police and local media are conspiring against the mayor for political reasons. I mean on July 4th there wasn't a officer in sight and anybody with common sense could predict the mayhem that would happen downtown on Independence Day. Also, St. Louis seems to be the only city I've been to that doesn't have crowd control officers on the weekends in the major entertainment districts. Downtown, the Loop, Cherokee, the Grove, etc. should be swarming with police on the weekend.

State to move 600 workers from downtown to Chesterfield from two different buildings including Wainwright building. Ouch.
What are we going to do with these empty buildings? They have to go residential right?

More. Seems like city was caught off guard by by the news. This is kind of a dick move by the State imho. There should have been better communication.

My biggest fear is another long term vacant building in the center of Downtown. This area is already the more vacant part of downtown. If that building sits for any period of time, the taggers and vandals will destroy it! That would be a shame. They will need 24 hour security to avoid this. Otherwise, the building will be vandalized and pillaged like the Railway Exchange building. I wonder what the City and State's plan will be to avoid this. This will kill the retail around there. Will Hooters bow out next?

I've heard the some of the courts may move by SLU. That remains to be seen, but many workers may stay in the City, just not Downtown.

Gateway Arch with nearly 500,000 visitors in June, that’s the highest June attendance since June 2001 & the second highest June going back to 1991 (when data stops) At the half point of 2024 visitor count is +19% over 2023 & now on pace for almost 3 million visitors for the year

Coast Guard to move from STL county and take 4,000 SF on the Landing at the former Sundecker’s Bar and Grill, at 900 N. First St. with possible expansion to other buildings for training/fitness facilities later

Nice to see a federal government agency investing in facilities in the city even as the state is abandoning it.

Seems like it will mostly be a recruiting station at this point.

Army has a recruiting office in a single room in downtown west on Wash Ave between 18th and 19th that’s 150 sq feet.  This is 4000, and that much space is usually for 20-25 people.

My bet is more likely it will be for maritime and waterway inspection group.    USCG does a lot of routine vessel inspections as well as safety investigations.   Recent regulatory changes on smaller work & tug boats added to there burden and number of vessel inspections. USCG inspectors typically come to vessel instead of vessel coming to them but work out of local office, etc..

Cobblestone (with Brew Tulum coffee as they build out their restaurant next door) is also now open on the Landing, the store part is still in stocking mode but sandwich cafe is up and running
