The new single-family on Skinker just north of Clayton is nearing completion. Really stands out from it's neighbors, with a light stone façade and a mix of traditional and contemporary elements. Sorry, I wasn't able to get a pic.

Hate hate hate that the garage faces the street. Is there a minimum set back here?

Not sure if they had an option to do anything but a front garage, no alley and a small lot.

Yeah, and they're gonna have a helluva time getting in and out with all the backed-up traffic on that stretch on Skinker. Maybe part of the reason that lot was vacant for so long.

Is that a two-car garage or one? Looks kind of small

It’s a one.

That house just doesn't quite know what it wants to be. Of course, it's not finished yet, so we'll see.

I can't even with this house.  Like what architect was willing to have their name on this house? It's like someone just wanted to recreate the 1980's house they grew up in on Long Island and did nothing to change it.

I don't think it's that bad. Well at least relative to the trio of 1970s crap on Lindell just east of Union.

Do you feel that way about the post lights way out in the middle of the front yard?  If it wasn't only 3000 sqft, it would be perfect fodder for McMansion hell (and so would those houses on Lindell)

@quincunx Do you mean the properties on Lindell west of Union? There's only one newer construction on Lindell between Union and Kingshighway and it isn't architecturally offensive. There are several 70s/80s suburban Creve Coeur style homes on Lindell west of Union.

Yes I meant west. That trio should be torn down and replaced with something 50x denser.

At least they won't worry about having to back up into that terrible Skinker traffic, with the tight but convenient turn around in the front yard.  I'm sure they spent a ton on pavers and stone work.

Drove by it today, it has a teal tile roof , two decks facing skinker that are unlikely to be used due to the noise, and truly the whackiest form I’ve seen in a long time.

Yeah, it's a mess of a house.

It's truly an unattractive house.  I wish STL city had an architectural review board like they have in Clayton, Webster, etc.  There are some
houses on Lindell that should have never been built!

That house looks like it should have a Grand Wagoneer in front of ....oh wait.

I had hoped it would come together a bit better.  Disjointed?  Dysfunctional?  Dishouseuglierthansin?

It looks like they just shopped in the clearance section of Home Depot to build the house.
