First time seeing a rendering of the new trains. Looking forward to seeing more.
Now, let's get recorded announcements with these trains.

Is that a new train online already?
Also, they better have auto messages and this should be throughout all the system

Love the rendering, it’ll be a few years before we see any real ones though. Bi-State is still negotiating with Siemens.
Looks very similar to Calgary’s updated cars. My guess is the S200.

Love the new cars, hopefully we can keep one of the originals in service with the OJ 90s paintjob. Preferably the one that Bill Clinton rode in.

Hopefully, Metro donates one of the legacy trains to the Museum of Transportation. I am more of a fan of buses than trains, but it'll be nice to see a new rolling stock mixing in with the Siemens SDs as the legacy SDs are phased out.
^^ The Clinton car has already gotten the new paint job and upgrades. Was on it just a couple weeks ago.
Would not at all be opposed to keeping a couple SD460s in the previous scheme and the original Bi-State scheme from the early 90s though…the orange accents with the multicolored service logos was always a favorite. More so than the white trains with the red and blue cheat lines.

According to a PD update, new train sets won’t start being delivered until 2026.

Because the conversation continues about these still being two car trains instead of one long one, I’m curious if Alstom, CAF, or even CRRC were tapped to see options. I’m sure no one knows for sure on here, but it’s something I wonder since those producers, I think, make the long train cars.
Or maybe Metro decided to continue with Siemens since maintenance between the old and new trains is similar, just like how Southwest only sticks with Boeing 737s.

Siemens’ has already won the contract. Negotiations over features and the final build are ongoing.

This is just a PR tour for the $196m awarded last month for rolling stock replacement
So...any chance the Forest Park signaling/interchange rebuild/repairs actually get finished soon so we can return to a full schedule? I understand they're doing some major work on it but it's ridiculous how long we've been on reduced service now.sc4mayor wrote: ↑Jul 31, 2023Pete Buttigieg announces funding for St. Louis area’s MetroLink system

I don't know, but yesterday I was amazed to find that the elevator has finally been repaired. That was nice when coming home from Lambert with a 50+ suitcase._nomad_ wrote: ↑Jul 31, 2023So...any chance the Forest Park signaling/interchange rebuild/repairs actually get finished soon so we can return to a full schedule? Secretary Buttigieg stayed in town and enjoyed the zoo with his family. A hero of mine at one of my favorite places.
Sorry, should’ve made clearer. I wasn’t there!symphonicpoet wrote:^Awesome story! Glad you got to meet him.
