^thanks, even though there's a drastic change in "community", I'm glad they're still open. We need the YMCA all over STL.

^Was about to ask about that. Nice to see the pool has been spared. Curious what else has been retained. This looks like it's going to be a real win in the end. (Though I expect the pool will be vastly more pricey than it was as a Y.)

I love that pool.  Can't wait to try the restaurant.  Huge win for DT West and its residents.

I am a member of the locust street athletic and swim club (my wife got it for all her employees and I piggybacked, it’s a write off, all these companies write it off (that’s a Seinfeld bit) anyway, I’m at home all day bc I WFH and while my building has a decent gym I wanted to get out of the building, especially with winter coming and this is a 2 block walk. You get to use the cardio, weight rooms, sauna, steam room, pool, spa, trainers ect. The equipment is all state of art with easy connectivity to most fitness apps. Part of our corporate package we get $1200 credit for various things in the gym like massages ect and 6 free nights at the hotel + invites to events.

^As irony would have it I've been given a couple night's stay in the hotel. (Associated with some other event or other nearby. Long story.) I'll try to remember to post something. Someone (not me) wants to make sure my wife gets to play tourist in our own fair city. (I've not done the world's best job getting her out to stuff. I have a hard time getting her to stop working. I say from a hotel in Philadelphia. To be fair, I really do want to get her out better. I just wouldn't have booked a hotel room in town. But hey, this way I'll have a better and more recent take on at least one local hotel.)

Does any reader have any info on the status of the parking lot that's on the south side of this building? Owned by hotel  and if owned plans for it? Or is it separate from the hotel? It's hockey/event parking

^Very nice. Looking forward to it. :) Had to make a minor change over the weekend due to my own screwup. They were very easy to deal with. So far I'm getting quite good feelings about the place.

I've eaten there twice in the past month and it is fantastic.  The museum part is really, really great.  I hope it gets tons of business and I hope that people use it as an event space!  The Suite is amazing, but it's hard to imagine using as a staycation with only one bed.  That's steep for a one-bed suite in St. Louis.  That said, I have heard they have had lots of celebs/musicians stay there.

I tried to book a table for this weekend. They have basically no availability before 9:45 on Saturday. Seems like they're doing fine. I won't get to try the tappas, but . . . obviously someone will. :D In all seriousness, the place sounds pretty cool and I'm looking forward to it.

21c Museum Hotels is a surprising growth driver for this mega-hotel company in the U.S.

For any hotels nerds out there. The article mainly features photos from the 21c St. Louis but just talks about the brand as a whole and how it fits into Accor's larger international business. If you didn't know, Accor, the parent company of 21c, also owns Fairmont, Sofitel, Raffles, Swissotel, among others. So their presence in STL is much more than just a midwest chain.

I didn't realize they were under Accor. Interesting.

I've stayed at the Sofitel and Swissotel in Chicago.

Well, here I am happy and slightly tipsy posting from the 21C hotel. So . . . opinions. It's nice. Expensive, but honestly nice. They seem to be doing a good job so far. There's a few kinks to work out yet, as there always are with anything new. But the building is gorgeous and they've done a nice job with the restoration. I'm thrilled that they kept some of the most iconic features of the historic building. I didn't really expect that. I'll spare the review of the food as, truth be told, I probably like older, simpler food than fancy chemical kitchen modern art food art. But if that's your thing its certainly well done, from my pedestrian perspective. No complaints. I think you could send someone who likes Serra's Twain here with a clear conscience.  If it's someone who doesn't like Serra . . . well . . . warn them there's modern art first. And that the mirrors might vibrate and have a label next to them. And then if they're still okay send them anyway.

So the short version is, they did a nice job.
