As expected, the community hearing about automotive violence on S Grand was a joke.

RFT - Mayor Tishaura Jones: St. Louis Will Invest $40M for Safer Streets
https://www.riverfronttimes.com/news/ma ... s-38629378The American Rescue Plan funds remaining in the bank give us the transformational opportunity to take a citywide approach by funding much-needed measures to reduce traffic violence. That’s why my administration will propose to the Board of Aldermen a significant investment of at least $40 million in ARPA funding to transform our streets in key phases while we work towards a long-term comprehensive citywide plan: building out traffic calming improvements in high-crash, high-risk areas; funding implementation on multiple already-completed studies for dangerous corridors and intersections; and adding traffic calming measures to major streets like Jefferson, Grand, Union, Goodfellow and Kingshighway already set for full repaving through ARPA. Funding from local bonds, as well as collaboration with regional and federal partners, can help these dollars go even further.

Good to hear - I'd love to see an actual plan. I do appreciate the callout that alot of these dollars can be just implemented because we've completed so many studies & plans.quincunx wrote: ↑Oct 05, 2022RFT - Mayor Tishaura Jones: St. Louis Will Invest $40M for Safer Streets

The bill also puts money toward writing a transportation master plan for the city, which the Jones administration says is necessary to bring in crucial federal money for infrastructure improvements.
Other items in the bill include $15 million to build a new 911 dispatch center and $6 million for sidewalk improvements.

It's depressing how we can't even keep this thread positive and about the wins lol. The way they've made Debaliviere more hostile to pedestrians recently is infuriating and I honestly feel kinda helpless to stop it. The way they eliminated the northern crosswalk at Pershing/Debaliviere cited in the article + how they built those fences around the Metrolink entrance and along the sidewalks to make it harder to enter. It's awful.
You're welcome.mikenewell48 wrote: ↑Jan 09, 2023FINALLY!! someone wrote up an article regarding the intersection at DeBaliviere and Pershing

Alert: The $6M for sidewalks in BB 120 may be taken out. If you'd like to testify at the HUDZ meeting Thursday, you have to sign up by 1 pm tomorrow.

Reminder you have to sign up to testify at the HUDZ meeting by 1 pm today. The meeting starts at 9 am tomorrow. BB64 comes first, so not sure when public statements would happen for BB120.
The HUDZ cmte voted down Ald Bosley's first amendment. Chair Davis advised that it was likely all his others would too because the bill is about street safety. He decided not to pursue more amendments at this meeting. HUDZ cmte will meet again Monday 9am.
^Based on this article Police: Surveillance video shows St. Louis alderman struck woman with his car, charges not issued, Bosley should probably be throwing anything he can at pedestrian and vehicle safety. Though he is going to need all the things he is trying to divert money to for campaign reasons once his challengers pounce on this.
Can someone else take over sponsorship of a bill after it's been introduced and assigned to a cmte?
I'd like to know how the heck Brandon Bosley got picked to carry this bill in particular? It's not like he has been an advocate for safe streets. He supported being able to attend Zoom BOA meetings while driving even.
