Promising development for job/north city as per biz journal story.    Cheap land/rents, cheap power and  water every equation and add the final component, a market opportunity for indoor agriculture to finally happen in a city with all resources and great location.   Didn't think it was going to be weed to bring industrial scale but does make sense

With many recent dispensaries opening up we were finally starting to see marijuana prices come down to reasonable levels…. Then I get this today… anyone know what regulations they speak of?

^ I had actually never heard of Swade, appears to be a Missouri thing.  I'm still not set up over here so I've just been bouncing across the bridges every so often to the IL3 location.

Definitely have noticed some pricing decreases (though Illinois is still quite high compared to more established markets).

Drove by Tom's now Liberty Cannabis and thought it looks pretty nice, so I snapped a quick photo of it.

I assume this passes pretty easily right? Only needs 50%?

Yes, 50%. There was an effort in this years Moleg session to increase it, which would itself require an amendment we'd vote on. I wonder if they'll try again what with an abortion rights amendment likely to come in the near future.

^Between abortion and cannabis, there could be huge left-side turnout this November.

I'll vote for recreational marijuana if they attach it to something like reducing or eliminating the income or personal property tax.

I’m not sure how much cannabis is even a left side thing anymore. Obviously more dems than republicans will vote for it but I feel like even on the republican side it would get over 50%. Maybe not, but it seems pretty accepted these days just for the tax money it brings in.

But then again I’d guess if you parsed out and had individual votes on a lot of things GOP legislators listen too much to the far right on, they would get voted on the opposite way by the general public. Even by a fair amount of their own party members.

Maybe not so much a left/right thing in the general populace, but there's definitely a divide amongst politicians I think

A recent poll asked about 2,000 registered voters in Missouri to weigh in on a series of political issues ranging from abortion rights to cannabis policy. It showed that 62 percent of Missourians back marijuana legalization, compared to 26 percent who said it should remain illegal.

Nearly half of those who identify as Republicans (47 percent) said that they support ending prohibition, which constitutes a plurality. Sixty-eight percent of independents and 78 percent of Democrats back the policy change.

It’s more about driving voters to the polls who otherwise wouldn’t vote. Dems can make this seem *close* and use it to drive young people to the polls.

If I were a dem (TBV) looking to excite my base, I’d jog across the IL border and roll a joint while hosting a press conference.

That should be enough to puncture Gen Z TikTok and Twitter.

Ate dinner at Yaqui's last night and noticed the Viola signage there on Iowa Street.
OT but Cherokee St was more hopping than I expected for a Monday night. Unless it's known as a place for industry folks to go on their weekend.
