Maybe it's time for a devoted anti-QT thread, given that they've become such a f*cking cancer.

Keep in mind that even when QT does not end up taking their signature aircraft-carrier-sized, pedestrian-and-cyclist-murdering dump on a parcel that they've purchased in order to reinforce their monopoly, it benefits them to encourage auto-dependence, i.e. selling to buyers with auto-focused plans.

This is in reference to the Ackerman Toyota site on S. Kingshighway:

The QT at Vandeventer at Chouteau is a mess Its as if they just plopped down a QT in a tight messed up corner to begin with.  Not unlike the CircleK at Grand at Forest Park this corner is a runner up for second place as being F-dup

Anyone know which one? I don't see any parcel owned by QT.

There's a QT at Kingshighway and Fyler. I know it seems like there are QTs everywhere, but would they really put another gas station just a few blocks away from another location? Are there examples in the STL area of two QTs being so close to each other?

Could we change the name of the thread to something more tactful though!

I agree with matguy. In an age where civil discourse seems to be a lost art, I always appreciate a little tact. Remember, the average Joe thinks Quick Trips are awesome; if we want to change their opinions, belittling them and trash-talking won't help.

^ average joe isn't reading this forum. obviously in a more formal or public setting i would be more diplomatic. the focus here is on sharing information about how QT is a f*cking plague, destroying the city and accelerating death and climate destruction for profit. i don't know about you but that makes me pretty f*cking angry. if some rando wanders in here and chooses to ignore that and instead get worked up over a bad word, then they're not interested in discourse anyway.

come to think of it, i should have named the thread "QuickTrip is a F*cking Plague". has a nice cadence.

^Just remember, it's only temporary:

"In approximately 5 billion years, the sun will begin the helium-burning process, turning into a red giant star. When it expands, its outer layers will consume Mercury and Venus, and reach Earth. Scientists are still debating whether or not our planet will be engulfed, or whether it will orbit dangerously close to the dimmer star. Either way, life as we know it on Earth will cease to exist....  'The future of the Earth is to die with the sun boiling up the oceans, but the hot rock will survive,' astrophysicist Don Kurtz, of the University of Lancashire, told Reuters."  source

Five billion years, but likely sooner. I'm playing the long game for the win. :)

Ha, you won't have to wait anywhere near that long.  Earth will be inhospitable to life as we know it well before then, for many reasons. And that doesn't even include anthropogenic oopsies.

I like QT. They are the best gas stations in town. At the same time there places I wouldn’t like to see them. This one, right next to the 170 off-ramp, isn’t one of them.

A number of QT's I have been in are very stressed.  Meaning the number of workers are stretchered thin.  I have visited a few and any number of times  the 'kitchen' has been closed because "we dont have the persons to keep it open atm"

That can be said for pretty much any retail, food, or service place. Definitely not a QT specific issue.

Three multifamily buildings, two duplexes and a single family home gone for a gas station. Incredible. I suppose it still pales in comparison to what's going on on the other side of 170 though.

Wasn't there a proposal for a fairly large apartment complex on that same site at one point? Whatever happened to that? (Not talking about the redevelopment going on where the Office Depot used to be)

I usually don’t have an issue with QT. By far my favorite gas station. But with two straddling 170 just an exit north of this, it might be a tad overkill to have another one here. Although I guess I would rather have this one than the proposed U city one. Would be nice if they would kill one of them.

Although I’ve given up on olive at this point anyway.

Someone on NextDoor said that QT was going after the Pelican building on Grand before it was rehabbed into a Domino's along with the new apt building to the north. smh

Stl BJ - QuikTrip buys a former dealership site in St. Louis
QuikTrip has purchased sites near South Kingshighway Boulevard and Chippewa Street, in the Tower Grove South neighborhood.

The Tulsa, Oklahoma-based convenience store and gas station operator in March purchased three corner sites that used to be part of a car dealership in south St. Louis, including 1.46 acres at 3636 S. Kingshighway, from Dart Associates of Kingshighway LLC. The registered agent for that entity, which was formed in 2019, is Gary Weselowski of Land Dynamics Development Corp. in Clayton.
