Technically they are still high (in levels, nationally) so her statement is not falsequincunx wrote: ↑Dec 06, 2021Murders are down in Stl, Lori
Well I take some comfort in that violence did not continue to accelerate this year in St. Louis, unlike in Philly, Chicago or NYC.

That’s entertaining. When it’s a positive Chicago, compares itself to the Global Alpha cities. When it’s a negative, Chicago compares itself to Austin and StL

Can I use this space to vent about the fact that there were 20,000 murders last year and 500,000 COVID deaths, and media are still using murder rates to trash our reputation?
Throw in the fact that you had another +20,000 suicides/deaths by gun, increasing trends of deaths on the freeways, I think +45,000, and overdose depths at 100,000 last year. The one thing that we can all agree on is how insane the number of preventable deaths have risen yet we are embroiled in culture wars to discuss solutions in a reasonable manner.MarkHaversham wrote: ↑Dec 09, 2021Can I use this space to vent about the fact that there were 20,000 murders last year and 500,000 COVID deaths, and media are still using murder rates to trash our reputation?
Seems to me to be a reflection of the mental health impact of the pandemic.

Welp, found out the other day that my best friend was raped at knifepoint near Ronnies a few weeks ago, and I am absolutely ***** livid that that happened to her.

So sorry to hear this. I hope she is able to recover from this without too much PTSD. If she asks, seek professional help. Likely hard to trust others right now so it could really help.Trololzilla wrote: ↑Dec 14, 2021Welp, found out the other day that my best friend was raped at knifepoint near Ronnies a few weeks ago, and I am absolutely ***** livid that that happened to her.

Unnecessary police chase claims another life. Some entertaining copsplainin from Hayden.

The juvenile and woman with him ran down the highway ramp and on the the interstate after crashing their vehicle. Not the same as some high speed chase gone awry. I'm not sure what the police should have done differently in this situation.

They were chased down the ramp
The police should not have chased them into the deadly crosshairs of interstate traffic

Alright. I haven't seen any of stories say that police chased them onto the interstate, only that officers exited their vehicle and the two individuals ran onto the interstate. So I'll take your word on that. Overall, just a tragic event.

That’s the copsplainin. “Officers left their vehicles” he never says chase. The reporter has to fill us in.
“Unfortunate vehicle incident” lol

Thank you. The first person she told about it was actually her therapist, so she at least has talked with a professional regarding it. She's been remarkably resilient so far - or at least putting up an incredible façade.STLCityMike wrote: ↑Dec 14, 2021So sorry to hear this. Some people are going to great lengths to avoid having their windows smashed, even leaving their trunks open to show it's empty.

It's been "Dunk on Andy Banker Day" on twitter. Deservedly so. (Apparently the actual segment said nothing about STL City nor its violent crime stats... doing so would have entirely undermined the deliberately misleading suggestion in that tweet that violent crime has increased in the City.)

Incredible to watch him double down on it and condescend others who challenge him on a false narrative.STLrainbow wrote:It's been "Dunk on Andy Banker Day" on twitter. Deservedly so. Local news is overly sensationalized and intentionally misleading. What a douche.
Not only a lazy take, but also lazy retorts.
Also, have always mocked his Dick Tracy ass suspenders like he's a real roll up the sleeves hard hitting journalist.
