Ameren unveils headquarters solar project

Ameren Corp. said it has completed design for its multitechnology solar installation at its headquarters in downtown St. Louis. Sachs Electric was named prime contractor for the project.

Ameren had announced the project in December.

Ameren is installing five solar power systems by year end that will be able to generate about 100 kilowatts of power at its headquarters building, at 1901 Chouteau Ave.

Ameren headquarters will install three solar technology types — polycrystalline, monocrystalline and thin film — and a tracking system on its rooftop. The systems include solar modules that contain solar cells, or panel semiconductors made of conductive materials.

Speaking of Ameren, their campus sucks. I would love to see them build a parking garage and develop some of their parking lots into something less terrible. Maybe connect Mississippi to Papin. It's a blank slate and would connect Lafayette to DTW and the Union Station activity node.

Perfect spot for a group of those large 5-1s everybody loves to hate

Theyve just spent $40,000,000 on campus renewal so nothing is going to happen for the next 10-15 years

The only thing worse than a sea of parking is one that is swarming with security sure to harass you for cutting through the lots. The only advantage of parking is that it's more pleasant to walk through an empty lot than along a stroad. Ameren security makes sure to tell you that's not permitted.

Add to that their personal stoplights on 18th that remain on 24/7 and there's something for everybody to hate. Ameren's complex is openly hostile to the neighborhood in every way.

I think you can say the same for Purina's/Nestle campus.   Some selective downsizing of campus area by adding a parking garage and turning over surface lots for infill would be a plus there as well.

Maybe. But you can tell they're working on the building facing 18th as you can see through the glass they've gutted it pretty bare.

I'd love if they consolidated everything east of 18th. Mainly because I'm tired of that stupidly timed stoplight.

I always wish they would dump the campus and move to downtown proper. Its crazy how some of dt biggest employers just kind of orbit dowtown.
