My first thought was "a bit short to be called Manhattan." Changing the name is probably for the best.

I'll rename it "The Marigold" since no other building in St. Louis is called that.
oh, "the Merigold" is nice! i like that. flower names are timeless. can't go wrong with flowers.

Dang, Chris, you sure are learning the development game at an early age. You're gonna be building skyscrapers by the time you're 30.

It's fun and gives me something to do. I get bored easily and college isn't the best option in keeping me occupied. So it's a two-way thing, I learn the process and have fun doing so. Now, if this can get built then I will be able to do more projects, but the end goal is to create something of high-quality, so there's no real rush to get things built on my end. It has to be done right and that's what the goal is here for, what I'm now calling, the Marigold.

There are many more like me, but I'm very insignificant in the grand scheme of things.

It's also a good name since this is just a few blocks away from Forest Park.

You should name it the IYBY.

Perhaps some creative signage.  Something along the lines of:

IY!BY

Yes. Currently planning 10 spaces in the first section of the garage. I have the full Zoning PDF that shows the bike closet.

Wish we’d been able to go more vertical here and ignore setbacks like original plans showed.

I really don't understand the obsession with setbacks.

^It's not setbacks per se, but rather maintaining a consistent building line.

But this neighborhood breaks the building line at corner lots with regularity anyway.

Is there another reason for setback requirements?

The only other reason I've heard mentioned is an outdated one.  In the very dense city of the past, commercial building owners, and even residential building owners, would often build shoddy additions up to the sidewalk, some little more than lean-tos, to increase their shop, display, or living space.

But on the vast majority of the original, unbroken streetscapes around town, corner lots have much smaller setbacks than the rest of the block, or none at all.  So, again, why the obsession here?

The chief of the opposition sent this email to neighbors yesterday morning and it was forwarded to me today. I'll address the concerns in this, but this is what those opposed are concerned about now (or, at least the opposition leader Steve). This is basically a rehashing of the concerns raised at June's meeting. There's nothing new in that opposition framework.

You're telling me you addressed the NIMBY's concerns in your new design and they are still in opposition?! Shocked! Shocked I tell you!

And FFS if you want easier ingress/egress by car, open Waterman at DeBaliviere!

This is deranged. I love the part where they have to specify that hotels look bad.
