It's as if all that money we keep giving McKee could go to something actually productive.

Drove past on Monday on the way to Crown Candy. The trees are gone, dirt is moving, and people were working on the site. Hopefully that means something is actually happening.
There was a permit issued April 1 (appropriate) for hospital construction for one parcel along Jefferson:dbInSouthCity wrote:I thought his plans were a 3 bed hospital.chaifetz10 wrote: I don't want to get too off topic here, but if BJC, SSM, Mercy, Ascension, etc... haven't shown any interest in a downtown / near downtown location, then anything McKee tries to build will be a heavily subsidized minute clinic / doc in a box.

This parcel is only about 1/8 of the Pruitt-Igoe site, and the only one for which a permit was issued. Only half of the overall site was ever even cleared. $2 million isn't going to buy much of anything healthcare-related - an entrance and small surface lot maybe... From news articles from 2015 this was originally proposed as a $7 million project; the first phase of a $70 million hospital, hotel and office complex...

Rendering for the original proposal
So, it looks like construction had begun last year, and then stopped, and then the new construction collapsed last December in a storm. In February, the city revoked the permit, calling the site abandoned. The permit was reinstated April 1. What a mess. I see from Google Maps that they cleaned up the collapsed building at least, but have they restarted construction?

Massive redevelopment for this site goes in front of the Board of Adjustment next week
Dumb question but where is this? I thought NGA was going on the old Pruitt-Igor site.
They recently trimmed the trees/brush back like 20-30 feet from along Cass and appear to be working on other brush deeper in.

There are some niches, for example; classified office space. Only reason I go to the office these daysquincunx wrote: ↑Oct 21, 2021I thought we wouldn't need more office space what with WFH.

Yes, I anticipate these will be for subcontractors, consultants, potentially some suppliers for hardware or software, etc.

Clayco site was originally pitched for NGA but they needed a much larger space so it moved north of Cass
mostly- i guess a better way of saying it is secure office space. Some of the things gov contractors work on cannot be taken home.
An office building and parking garage at 2300 Cass are on the Board of Adjustment agenda for Oct 19th.
Anyone have thoughts or would know if this is Medical Arts type office building (dentist office, physical therapy, etc.) and or related to NGA/secure site pitched to private contractors in support of NGA?quincunx wrote: ↑Sep 27, 2022An office building and parking garage at 2300 Cass are on the Board of Adjustment agenda for Oct 19th.
I found this after some digging online. https://joy15.com/accelerator-building-a1
- 3 Anchor Leases: Cole Engineering, M Property Services, LifeWorks
- An additional 56,000 SF on Floors 1 and 2 is being held for the National Geospatial-Intelligence Museum
^ along with the "A4" building:
- Currently in Negotiations with Major Corporation for lease of the entire A4 Building (~100k sqft).
- Will share parking garage with A1 and be connected to the Hotel

Why would anyone have any faith that this is going to turn out well? Has anything Northside and McKee done been even moderately successful yet? Didn't he build the grocery store off Tucker that never has any groceries? Even this article mentions the fact that the Homer G. Phillips hospital-ish thingy he built was completed a year ago and hasn't even seen patients let alone staff. He's a joke and it sucks that the city has to continue to deal with him.quincunx wrote: ↑Mar 02, 2023StlToday - Development of former Pruitt-Igoe site, near St. Louis’ new NGA campus, advances

^ I would give a little more faith in the fact that Clayco is involved. The thing that stuck out to me is the two office proposal is one hotel, office and the 2nd office on pause. Considering the WFH, availability of competing space in downtown/west downtown it makes sense that the 2nd office is on pause.
Trying to grasp my head around the idea of/if a six story hotel will have success at the site. A mile and half from downtown/west downtown is an easy Uber ride and you will have a lot more amenities around you from a traveler perspective. I'm also assuming the proposed hotel will be along the lines of residence type to accomodate a contractor who might their for full week or extended time. At same time, a cluster of businesses from office, hotel, to eateries to the small hospital could result in a good outcome of time. Too bad the proposed medical school incorporating a more dense campus couldn't be incorporated into smallish hospital

^ I don’t think it’s on pause, I think the City had an issue and postponed voting until April
