Those are awesome and will be more inviting to those who traditionally don't ride.

How safe is taking the Metro in terms of covid? I desperately miss the ease of taking it downtown, but it is a closed environment and I have heard that you encounter a lot of anti-maskers.
I rode on it a couple weeks back. All people on my train were wearing masks. It wasn’t that busy either. Only problem I encountered was a guy smoking on the train.Elek.borrelli wrote:How safe is taking the Metro in terms of covid? I recall New York reporting this summer that well over 80-90% of their cases came from people who didn’t use transit.Elek.borrelli wrote:How safe is taking the Metro in terms of covid? It's safe, it's empty, it's depressing. Still beats parking downtown, though.
I've used it a bunch of times, seems perfectly fine to me. Sometimes it's been pretty busy, other times not so much, but most all are wearing masks. Besides...transit cars filter out their air at much faster rates than say a bar or other indoor place. You're much safer riding MetroLink than sitting in a restaurant.Elek.borrelli wrote: ↑Oct 29, 2020How safe is taking the Metro in terms of covid? Here's a fun interactive about how the NYC Subway filters air in and out of their cars. According to this roughly every 3 minutes and 20 seconds air inside the car is fully replaced by outside air. I think it takes somewhere between 18-25 minutes for old air to fully filter out of an enclosed bar.

To everyone who replied, riding Metro is fine during the pandemic. I rode buses and Metrolink quite a few times over the Summer. Also earlier this month I took Metrolink to Lambert for a trip to DC. It was fine, most people were wearing masks though some people weren't wearing them properly (below the nose). When I see people who aren't wear a face mask or wearing it improperly I'd just go find another seat further away from them.
There were some anti-maskers on the MetroLink the other day when I rode. There have been some every single time during the pandemic. That's not even counting the mask-under-the-nose folks.
I'm not comfortable taking it except for infrequent and short trips.

Drove past that exact station the other day. Looks very modern. They got rid of a very large shelter that was in it's place though. Maybe it wasn't used much.
CMT Talking Transit: Can the Bus Drive Development? – April 29, 2021
Has Metro been upgrading LRT car interiors? Saw this video on their Facebook and noticed the blue seats and hand rails. I don’t think I’ve ever seen those before. Doesn’t look like the car itself is new tho.

They’ve also been replacing the destination signs to LEDs.sc4mayor wrote:Has Metro been upgrading LRT car interiors? Saw this video on their Facebook and noticed the blue seats and hand rails. I don’t think I’ve ever seen those before. Doesn’t look like the car itself is new tho.

Just upgrading the exteriors, putting new destination signs on, and upgrading the inside a bit goes a long way in improving the way the trains look since replacing isn’t likely right now.
Also, I’ve seen the new all electric busses testing on Grand recently.
Love the new electric busses on Grand, the one I saw was a double-length and super quiet.

Saw one of the new buses working the other day. Looked fantastic - can't wait to see more of them in service.
Is there any public data on bus ridership in St. Louis? For example, in Minneapolis, there is data on ridership, operating cost/revenue, service hours, etc, broken down for each bus route in the system. I was hoping to find something similar for STL, but I searched online for a bit and couldn't find anything.

Kind of clueless but between City job opening, Metro Bus driver shortage and even Police positions you think that these would be sought after jobs. Is it lack of applicants, lack of qualifications, lack of pay or other concerns? or all of the above? Seem like some stimulus/restore funds towards training workforce development to fill these slots would be an easy long term win.quincunx wrote: ↑Aug 16, 2021Stltoday - Metro reducing some Missouri bus service in response to driver shortage
