Phase 2 will look massive from this angle and the added office building, apartments and retail space will make this area feel, at least based on the renderings, much more cozy. Throw in the old rail bridge trial, and that feel will surely become clear.

It would be awesome if/when they develop that lot directly south of this, that they would incorporate the rail bridge to abut new outside dining and bar seating for whatever new restaurant will ultimately open there. Have an expanded bike “parking lot” with restaurant entrances right of the greenway. That combined with the Foundry span would make this leg of the greenway a nice destination for the automobile adverse.

They’re hosting a third one.

Same. Looking forward to this. Wonder if they could look at some retractable awnings to have outdoor vendors once it actually opens.

^I had to google UNIQLO...that's my kinda price point, and looks good too. Closest ones...Chicago and suburbs of Chicago.
And out of their 52 stores in the US, those three in Chicago and one in Denver are their only stores in flyover country. So, it could take a few for UNIQLO to work their way down to the bottom of that expansion list... 🙂

Uniqlo is pretty freaking awesome. HeatTech undershirts every day makes it feel like we don't even really have a winter in St. Louis.

Though when they opened the Chicago store, they said it was just to kind of showcase themselves to midwesterners to expand mail order business to us. Are they actively opening stores?

As for the Wintermarket, I guess my early-pandemic hope that we could maybe spread things out over a bigger timeframe won't ever be realized. St. Louis wouldn't ever have crowds if things were spread out across time a bit. Restaurants, events, everything. Maybe we don't have to do all dining/drinking/events in a 30-hour timeframe from Friday evening to Saturday evening.

^Just expand weekends to seven days a week. We're already there, almost. I think that's something everyone can get on board with.   😉

Is it just me or has the garage already lost one floor in those newer renderings?
Earlier:

Recent:
This design I think is even better than the original tower design (albeit the first more a draft than detailed as this.)  After damn Covid - this district will be a go-to for myself.

Third "WinterMarket" is sold out.

I attempted to make a comparison photo. I got the angle and height wrong.

I see that JJs bar is for sale. Could that potentially be something that we see get developed?

It's a weird lot, but there is a ton of space next to the building.

Also.... I can't wait until that ugly ass Goodwill building with the painted over windows is converted into residential.

What are those large grassy areas immediately east of the Foundry (in the rendering)? Is that just a glitch of some sort?

The third WinterMarket was today. Beyond looking around at today's offerings, I went around and took pictures of other parts of the project.

Some interior shots (from the windows). Food Hall still has a bit of work to be done (from what I can see at least). Punchbowl Social hasn't even started work yet. I imagine work on Punchbowl Social and Alamo Cinema will begin after Christmas and New Years. Both are in about the same place finish-wise (bare metal beams and concrete).

They may just be there for a number of reasons with these two points being most likely...
1. Hide the old industrial buildings.
2. Hints at future development.

Willing to bet that they just aren't modeled for renderings.

Went to the event today. What they have done looks good. The food truck said they are opening their stand there in April. So that gives you a timeline (obviously could still change though)

Also, you don’t need a ticket to get in. They don’t check them.

There is still no mention anywhere on their website or social media presence about a St. Louis store, which is odd, but I did notice this one blurb at the end of a fairly recent press release about their donations to the St. Louis Area Foodbank:

 PRNewswire - Fresh Thyme - Sept. 28, 2020

"Fresh Thyme continues to expand their footprint in the St. Louis area, with their City Foundry store (3700 Forest Park Ave.), set to open in March of 2021. This location will provide access to affordable, healthy options in an area previously labeled as an area of the region that lacks reliable access to nutritious food."

PostDec 13, 2020#1072

^And btw, there is something very strange about that photo. I guess it's because the base of the highway girders and the gap between Foundry buildings is obscured, but...that perspective really makes it look like the highway is behind the Goodwill Building and Goodwill is part of City Foundry...lol.

I was looking at that for a while thinking, "Wait...I thought they got rid of the loading docks, and when did they paint the Foundry building grey??"

Thanks, Chris.  I can't wait to see how the mural(s) can make this pop a little more (assuming this is still happening?).  Good to see the space in use already.

Agree.  It made me do a double take.  I looked at the Google street view and, although not as pronounced (at least to me), it still kinda has the same feeling to me.

The commisioned murals are inside the Foundry building. With respect to the exterior, what you see now is what you're going to get, beyond tenant improvements and signage, and the rest of the landscaping in the Spring.

Hopefully, the retail tenants will add some exterior stimuli to offset all of the drab, hard, gray surfaces.
