The S. Jefferson corridor won't reach its potential until we get some form of rapid transit, but it is good to see some cool things happening with storefronts....

North of Chippewa activity includes:
- Milquetoast in McKinley Hts. (2212 S. Jefferson) looks like it is getting close to opening
- California Donuts in Benton Park (2924 S. Jefferson) looks like it is coming back to life!

A bit of bad news though is that Luvy Dufy's recently close at Arsenal & S. Jefferson (2321 S. Jefferson) in Benton Park.

South of Chippewa activity includes:
- A chicken and beer place Byrd & Barrell that looks like it could be pretty cool is coming to an old Popeye's just south of Chippewa (3422 S. Jefferson)
- Lucky Buddha recently took over the old Jefferson Bistro spot (3701 S. jefferson)

I live along Jefferson and feel this stretch becoming a walkable, livable street is VITAL to the health of the surrounding neighborhoods. Benton Park, Benton Park West, McKinley Heights, Fox Park, and Marine Villa (Part of Gravois Park) all need this stretch of road to be a connector and not a divider.

With the Metrolink proposed here, I feel now is the time to plan and make this stretch a better place instead of waiting.

Instead of posting here and complaining about it, I would like to take action. Can anyone help direct me to resources or would anyone be interested in helping tackle this project? I have contacted Great Streets and The Dutchtown-Jefferson Historic Neighborhood Planning group with limited success thus far.

I love what is starting to happen at the intersection of Jefferson and Gravois: nice coffee shop, nice restaurant. Hopefully gaining some momentum. Without wanting to sound exclusionary, would be nice to have some police presence at the nearby 711 though, it's an open air drug market and someone I know got mugged there during the day.

That 7/11 is wild. I was there frequently over the summer and the place is just tense all the time. I never saw anythings too crazy, but it always felt a moment away.

My wife has an account at SLCCU and used to use the ATM there but stopped doing so after being accosted a couple of times in the parking lot. It looks like something out of The Wire.

Yeah I had a couple friends in town a few months ago and they wanted to swing by there to get beer on our way home from Cherokee Street at about midnight on a Saturday night. They were from Florida so it wasn't too weird for them lol

That 7-11 has been like that for at least 20 years now, although now the drug market has competition from the QT down the street. I don't have any hope for that area as long as they remain.

Coffee Stamp is some legit good coffee, like right up there with Blueprint and Sump in terms of quality for the coffee aficionados out there.

When it comes to the 7/11 I have to agree with you. Fortunately it shares street frontage with two crappy predatory lending companies which should make land acquisition pretty easy to eventually build something nice and mixed use. It would be great to see Jefferson retail strip connected to the Gravios strip to the SW. Same could be said for the car wash and gas station (that doesn't even sell gas anymore) to the north. If we play our cards right this could be a neat, dense, and well connected part of town

If a developer could buy out the two loan joints and the now empty 7/11 it would be a great spot for a big ol 5/1
