^ 100% agree. My mom and I were cruising down 40 today going to Lafayette Square and despite being a modestly sized building it does make an impact from the highway. Along with City Foundry, the Armory, this area is starting to look totally different. Midtown and the CWE have always looked pretty dense and built up when driving by on the highway, but it’s really becoming noticeable now. Especially with 100 rising in the distance when heading west.

^ I love this height for the surrounding area. I would like to see more of these built on parcels in Downtown West, however. Washington Ave could use an apartment building of this massing on 17th street.
Yeah noticed this building from MetroLink this morning. I was very surprised by how massive it is.
^ Looking good! Pretty crazy how much this area has changed in a few short years.
According to the Business Journal, this will open on October 30th. Some other details...

The bar will be managed by Midas' Director of Food and Beverage James Metcalf, who previously served as Panera Bread’s operating partner for nearly nine years.
“The rooftop view and exceptional space are both incomparable and fresh," said Robert, who is also Midas' CEO...

i really like the look of this place. not super high quality but the shape and massing are great.
It will be open to the public.EssTeeEll wrote: ↑Sep 10, 2020Dope. I wonder if the rooftop bar is for guests only?
I agree. It's a basic design but holds the street wall, is a good size, and has street level activation.urban_dilettante wrote: ↑Sep 10, 2020i really like the look of this place. not super high quality but the shape and massing are great.
Pretty close to the initial rendering. Too bad they had to enclose the rooftop space, though.urbanitas wrote: ↑Nov 15, 2019
Just a reminder - the original rendering from 2017. I guess this is what they are building. There is no mention of this hotel on the Element reservations page yet.
Four stories have been erected, and they are starting on the 5th.
I didn't realize that this place was an extended stay hotel.

Midas Hospitality's CEO and his grandson made a Lego copy of the hotel (from Prospect Yards' Facebook page):

They enclosed just the central part: this isn't Florida or California. There are two open air patios on either side.urbanitas wrote: ↑Sep 11, 2020Pretty close to the initial rendering. Too bad they had to enclose the rooftop space, though.urbanitas wrote: ↑Nov 15, 2019

We did a little 2 night staycation at the Element. Reminds me of Springhill Suites from Marriott or Home2 from Hilton.
-The hotel isn't bad though the rooms facing Forest Park Parkway could have used better soundproofing.
-Will definitely be back to check the bar out post pandemic and in better weather. Certainly has interesting views of midtown.
-The bar was busy during the evening and was a 30 minute wait. But that's because they were limited to the inside area.
