EssTeeEll wrote:^ Chris, any chance phase 2 gets delayed/cancelled at all? You said next year it would begin, which would be great, but didn't know if the current landscape changes anything.

I'm a little concerned about the lack color/trees/"inviting-ness" myself, but I'll hold off true judgement until this whole thing is done. It's still pretty incredible what's become of this scorched eyesore, so I'd hate to be too harsh. I remember hearing about them wanting artists for some of the walls, so that's good.

How close is that one building to the top of parking garage?  Could make an easy rooftop pavilion area.
On an honest note, I expect the high-rise office building to become apartments just because I think they’d like to have that component here. If they can build a residential building as tall as the office building they wanted to do here, they could get a decent amount of units on this site.

Thanks, Chris. I'm assuming one of these buildings didn't replace the high rise, it was just removed for now? Just basing it on the parking lot being there in this render. Again, don't want to be too critical of anything here, but it'd be a little disappointing to add two parking garages on the site and still have surface level parking. I'd say that spot is perfect for that high rise, and yes - I think apartments would be great.

When is anything/something going to OPEN at whatever this place is?
Went trespassing last week, and it doesn't look like any of the retail bays have begun interior buildout besides Punch Bowl Social. Hoping they announce some tenants sooner than later.

Also that phase II rendering is pretty disappointing. Clearly their search for retail isn't going well, but that streetwall on Foundry Way sucks.

^ Pretty sure that Phase II rendering is old and out of date...

As far as the trestle...as it’s been discussed here...it will be built out when GRG builds out the greenway connections. Without those, it would just dead end into a weed filled lot next to the highway. Might as well wait for GRG to get their funding together for the rest of the connections first.

I think some graffiti art would really make parts of this project really pop. Additionally add a great spot for visitors to take pictures.

They had a handful of mural projects posted for submissions not too long ago.

Here's one of em: https://artist.callforentry.org/festiva ... hp?ID=7857

I hope there is a landscaping on the way, but I'm going to reserve judgment on the finishing touches until it is finished. And if they are going to add landscaping wouldn't it make sense to wait until we are past the peak of St. Louis summer?

That is a hot sidewalk in the summertime. Give me some shade.

^ The shades you posted upthread would be nice at least as a temporary solution until any trees they may plant mature.

Saw the Women's Creative was holding an event at the Foundry if anyone wanted to get a sneak peak.

The musical chairs of city business is not a great look for a project receiving incentives.

^ Don’t disagree, but these guys do seem like a good fit for a place like City Foundry.

Fair point, but it sounds like more of an investment/expansion than just shuffling the deck chairs:

"The City Foundry location offers Deli Star more space and the opportunity to add more production capabilities, officials said."

The Pitch - Projecting Innocence: Years after promised reforms, Alamo Drafthouse Theaters still breed harassment. KC is no exception.

Wow, they have just about every allegation possible in there. Consider the source, but it's already been picked up by a few other sites...

Yikes... but back to Deli Star, I am constantly around the Landing and I had no idea they were there

I’ve read quite a few dislikes about the garage street wall but I drove past it today (I couldn’t grab a picture) and there are some cool developments.  The wall has been painted a dark grey and there is new lettering and signage.  There is also some sort of art design taking shape on the western edge working its way west to east.  The finished product is not going to be just a plain concrete wall but artsy signage for drivers on the parkway.

I had a feeling that might be the case - excited to see what that is looking like once someone snaps a pic, thanks for the note!

I was hoping for a green wall or at least some unique artwork, whether it be some sort of shifting / flowing lighting display or Keith Haring-style mural, but with this project, never really expected it...

Soon as I saw it painted black, I knew it was going to be some variation of the caution tape theme which is ubiquitous on their website. Maybe they are targeting fans of irony? Anyway, it's cheap and doesn't require any maintenance, since when it peels and fades it will just add to the "distressed" look. 😉

I'm trying really hard not to make any snarky comments about their ever-more garish entrance to their garage.

In hindsight possibly the developer(s) could have reached out to local artists to submit ideas. Given it more of a STL look than what it is now.

I am still very excited about this development.  A real game changer (next to IKEA) for Midtown.

Anyone have any thoughts about the area malls filing for bankruptcy? Does that present an opening for Foundry to bring in some typical mall retail? Does it not change anything?
