I don't think it warrants its own thread yet but Scotts AFB landing Space Command would be a big plus for Metro East and the region as well secure Scott's presence for decades to come up. You would think this is a no brainer for gov to support whether he agrees with a Space Command or not.

^ I just see at as a poorly disguised political comment that added nothing to conversation to Metro East employment and or possible impacts to Scott AFB..
All you have to do is look at the history of government programs to realize that government is really really good at adding programs and various policies and very bad at letting programs sunset and or eliminating them altogether for all sorts of reasons. Heck, pretty sure someone stated at one point that the Navy, Air Force, Marines and Coast Guard when they were first formed were not going to last as soon as their was a political change in leadership. For better or worse, I don't see Space Command going away anytime soon nor did I ever see a need for it considering the Air Force and its missile program has pretty much been in space for decades.. But it would be a plus to land it
What’s there to disguise? Joltin Joe is going to beat the crap out of that clown and than he will allow the Air Force to keep the job it’s already been doing without silly Space Force branding

I would argue you can have a new space command without a Space Force. Putting it on/near an air force base makes sense. You can keep it under the Air Force if you scrap the Space Force branding.
That’s my point. The Air Force Space Command has been a thing since 1982 and based in Peterson Air Force base in Colorado. So this silly money wasting Trump ego stroke will go away next year
^ Sure, but moving the Air Force Space Command is a bit different than an office relocation.
NORAD, the Northern Command, the 21st Space Wing and some of the Space and Missile Systems Center are HQed at Peterson. Come on, they’re not moving all that here lol.

Whole space force thing is silly. My day job is advising the Air Force and army on installation design/rebuilding/moving/closing/consolidating. We even write requirements for what a installation needs to have down to number of restrooms and I’ve yet to talk to a single person who thinks this is a legit and good idea.
