For the moment this is mostly copy-pasta using STLrainbow's incredible threads as a model. I've made a small change to the geographic breakdown to more closely reflect my own take on the way the city works, and I'll use the McCue-Peters Guide to the Architecture of St. Louis as a precedent. I'm working on adding a map, which I'll link in the main post as soon as I get it done. (Which I can keep updated as the year progresses, and which I can copy and hand off to others in the future as needed.) Thank you for your patience and help.

Oh, yours absolutely has things mine won't. Different styles. Different aims. I'm just shooting to put the 2019 city limits projects on a single map. Yours is more ambitious: regionwide, multi-year. Could possibly just use that and save myself trouble, but I have an odd yen to make these things. (I make 'em on paper with pencils and pens too. Odd as that may sound. Though most of those are more fantastical.) That said, thank you for reminding me. I've enjoyed perusing your map in the past quite a bit. It's a good resource.

Boldened part, I removed a majority of projects out of my reach (AKA places I don't go often). So I am concentrating on the City, for the most part and just bits of the county. Your plan sounds great, can't wait to see your map.

^STLrainbow, I don't think I really plan to take it a much different direction than you did, and so far it's almost all your legwork. Just getting started. I'll be well content if I can maintain what you've created and add even just a little.

As to adds:

I've added The Link at Delmar and Skinker, the Forest Park DeBaliviere TOD, the Kranzberg Arts cafe and coworking space at 3301 Washington, and the prefab homes in the Ville to the planned projects; all as reported in NextSTL. Has Pace broken ground on the Link? I seem to recall they started demo on the gas station, but maybe that's just wishful thinking. It's been a couple of weeks since I was that way and I wasn't looking closely at the time. (Ought to check for permits on that one.) Also need to find out if the Kranzberg project is in addition to or in the stead of the similar project at 3100 Washington.

Will do more looking. Making more progress on the map, but it's still got a ways to go. Please feel free to chime in if there's something that needs to be added, subtracted, or corrected. I did not include projects on the completed list from 2018 as I figured the 2019 completed list should only include projects completed in 2019. (Of which there are as yet none so far as I'm aware. What with it being barely the third day of the new year.)

Anyway, thank you all for your patience and help.

Thanks for doing this! One small suggestion going forward would be to include the cost amount with the projects and have them ranked by that. Feel like it helps to figure out the scope of what it is a little bit better. IMO

I can help get find some of those if you would like.

That's a solid idea. I was thinking about adding projected costs anyway. I'd been planning to go through and order them by date completed, ground broken, or proposed, but cost would certainly be easier. I'm meaning to audit the list and make sure things are in the right places and reflect any changes that have come down the pike. I have a bit of a to do list I'm going to be addressing over the next week or two before things really settle into a routine. Your input is very much appreciated.

Can’t be built this year but was proposed just days ago. Keep your eye on the news about this because some stories are coming about it.

Looks promising. Have they been able to raise any money for any cities yet?

Their financials are outlined in the pdf.

They are in late development planning stages in UAE, Abu Dhabi, and two American cities.

^Love your new design, Chris. I've pretty well abandoned my own map, as there's nothing I could do that would match that.

Added the proposed Duncan and Newstead neuroscience building.

Bit of a Debbie-Downer question for a thinkpiece, but does anyone have a good handle on which (if any) of these projects is most likely to stall out/never come to fruition if and when the next recession hits in a few years? I love seeing all the development and really would hate to see a lot of it and all the momentum it carries with it be erased essentially overnight, since I'm not sure that STL has quite reached a level of developmental momentum that is necessary to be sustainable through multiple years of economic downturn.

Anything to update on the list?

Well . . . Jefferson Arms looks a little precarious right now and Railway Exchange can never quite seem to get off the ground. I wish Alterra Mike the best and I hope the current/new/next owners of RX can get something going. But . . . if I had to hedge. 300 S Broadway is another that could easily break the wrong way.

^By "break the wrong way" I don't necessarily mean the tower won't get built. But also the possibility that the building could sit vacant and deteriorating for an extended period because the tower is falling through.

True. Though, I've heard that there's other interesting groups in that building (which wouldn't surprise me in the slightest), so if the original group falls through entirely, I haven't given up hope that the building will be used for something, at least. Preferably with at least the facade still intact.

Would be interesting to have a list of Downtown vacant buildings and see if the list grows or shrinks over the next few years. I know the big ones of course. I'm sure there are dozens of smaller ones.

Jefferson Arms
AT&T Tower
Butler Building
Railway Exchange

@ImprovSTL This map might be the best you'll get for the time being: https://www.stlvacancy.com/map.html

(Vacancy is a complicated "definition" right? What does "vacant" mean?)
