I don't know if any local firms, or people, looked into buying this but it sucks that some out of town company is taking over. The company will proclaim this as their "crown jewel" when they had nothing to do with it.

Is it a problem for them to proclaim it as such? "Crown Jewel" means "prized asset" and prized assets can be purchased.

Isn't this the same Premier Parks that nearly destroyed the Six Flags chain when it owned them two decades ago?

The headline might cause concern, but the article makes it sound like the perfect scenario for City Museum to grow and provide insurance packages to their employees. It's partially owned by a grain processor in Cahokia anyhow.

I'm cautiously optimistic based on this statement by the new owner:
He said he plans to honor the initial vision and experience of the museum and will not add theme park signage or “jazz it up” in a sanitized way. The museum does almost no marketing, so Premier will likely market the museum outside the area “to increase the awareness of how special this is. That’s not just good for the area, but very good for downtown.”
Online ticketing? Marketing outside the region? Great. No employees lose their jobs.

And if you are worried about the cheese factor or covering everything in protective foam (my concern), this hilarious quote from the current museum director should put you at ease:
Erwin said the museum will maintain control of its social media accounts and will have a say in any other marketing ideas Premier brings to the table. “If I see a dancing bear out there with a logo, I’d throw it off the roof,” he said.
This might be a good thing.

Seems like everything is working out- the new operator launched a test run of 4(July 25, August 1, August 8 and August 15, 7pm-11pm) Thursday “City Nights” Roof Top themed parties for 21+ people and they were wildly successful. 2,500 in attendance for the final one on the 15th

Yep. I haven't heard anything but good coming from City Museum, so I think we're gonna be OK.
