Hopefully it could also trigger a flight to FRA!
Rawlings is being sold to a group which includes Major League Baseball:

That's a good thing for Rawlings and IMO for the St. Louis-based employees specifically; I can't see them wanting to agressively cost-cut just to prop up share prices, and maybe I'm wrong but I don't see them feeling the need to relocate the HQ to another city.framer wrote: ↑Jun 05, 2018Rawlings is being sold to a group which includes Major League Baseball:

Speaking of the HQ being that it's now at least partially owned by MLB, it makes all the sense in the world to move the headquarters from a random suburban office into a shiny new building in the middle of an exciting development right next to one of the jewels of the sport!
Right?

I would assume the same considering the MLB already has a relationship with the Cardinals, you'd hope a move to an MLB owned property would be cyclically good for them (pay yourself for services you already provide).

Serious question.
What are the odds of St. Louis being able to woo Bayer out of North Carolina?
I have heard a few people discuss this around my office, and I curious if this is actually...a thing.

On Bayer and NC...I don't think I understand the question.
That's all happening.

The St. Louis region will become Bayer’s North American headquarters and retain its presence as a leading hub of biotech research. Bayer’s crop science researchers, for instance, will join Monsanto’s research campus in Chesterfield after moving from their current home in North Carolina.
The timing of that move — and the precise scope of how many employees will come and go from St. Louis-area facilities — remains uncertain, with Condon saying that it “is going to take probably a year” to unfold.
“Some people will move immediately, some people will take longer,” Condon said. “This also depends on family situations — kids at school and whatever.”

Oh, I seriously did not know that. However, that would explain all of the Bayer advertisements around St Louis. I kinda wish local media would actually tout that more, doesn't seem like that big of a loss of Monsanto, but seems like a huge gain with Bayer.soulardx wrote: ↑Jul 30, 2018On Bayer and NC...I don't think I understand the question.

Is this being perceived as a loss in NC?
^^ Thanks, I didn't know either. Probably the best outcome you could ask for.
Now I need to go change up my post about ATT buildings and think of a company that has a presence or would entertain a relocation

It would seem so, yes. Came up a while back tangentially when St. Louis landed the Sugarcane firm.Chalupas54 wrote: ↑Jul 30, 2018Oh, I seriously did not know that. And there are several other headlines within the last few years. And job numbers. The Bayer move was expected to cost RTP about three hundred jobs. (Some of which they're making up as BASF expands on buying assets Bayer is selling.) I don't get the feeling they're counting it a devastating blow, but I definitely think we're on RTP's radar.Sugarcane firm picks St. Louis over RTP for North American research HQThe Triangle has lost to St. Louis before when it comes to ag-tech. Bayer, for example, is moving its North American headquarters to St. Louis once its Monsanto deal closes.

Unfortunately I wouldn't anticipate Bayer making much of an impact in urban St. Louis. Their campuses in North Carolina are VERY suburban. I'm sure they will just build around the existing Monsanto Campus in the county.

Apparently Republic Airlines is nearing a deal to buy Trans States Holdings, which is headquartered in Bridgeton near Lambert. Trans States Holdings owns Trans States Airlines, GoJet Airlines, and Compass Airlines, which operate regional jets for the US3.

^That would fit with their offloading the evacuation trainer, sadly. Not a great time to be a regional. Looks like United is making a bid for ExpressJet as well. American and Delta have been cutting back on outside regionals at a ferocious pace (handing the business over to their subsidiaries.) If United does that too (and they just might, in order to have a better pilot pipeline) that leaves a lot less space for companies like Trans States and Republic. So maybe their ownership is thinking "get out now while the getting is good." And here I was very much hoping they were thinking of something bigger with their upcoming orders.
Anyway, the United Story, per Bloomberg: United Explores Investing in Regional Airline ExpressJet

In other news, Core & Main is on an acquisition binge. They have purchased four companies in the last year and, from the sounds of their press releases, they are nowhere near done. For reference, Core & Main is headquartered here (Maryland Heights)...they were spun off of HD Supply last year (HQed in Atlanta) when a private equity firm bought them.

The USDA is looking to move 700 jobs out of the Washington DC area. St. Louis should be all over this.
"USDA said it is conducting the relocation of the two agencies for the following reasons:
To improve USDA’s ability to attract and retain highly qualified staff with training and interests in agriculture, many of whom come from land-grant universities. USDA has experienced significant turnover in these positions, and it has been difficult to recruit employees to the Washington, DC area, particularly given the high cost of living and long commutes.
To place these important USDA resources closer to many of stakeholders, most of whom live and work far from the Washington, DC area.
To benefit the American taxpayers. There will be significant savings on employment costs and rent, which will allow more employees to be retained in the long run, even in the face of tightening budgets."

I had no clue this was going on. Apparently they looked to move to KC or Louisville but decided to stay here but now the county is pulling incentives because the St. Louis Economic Development Partnership is involved with putting them in Northwest Plaza.

I'm a little surprised they're taking the store in Shrewsbury but not the one on Kingshighway. Here's to hoping this doesn't lead to the kind of long term vacancies a few of the National purchases caused. (Can't imagine it will. Looks like they're being more selective about what they buy this time.)
