I'll be curious to see if a jet bridge goes up on E40 soon. Also to see how they work the flights out of that area when it does.
I just noticed that when Alaska's Portland flight starts back up (today is its last flight until March) that it and the San Diego flight will have almost the exact same time on the ground here.
SAN-STL 13:40 - 14:20 STL-SAN
PDX-STL 13:40 – 14:35 STL-PDX
That means they will need another gate. They operate out of C15 now. C17 is open but right now the way they have the gates set up there isn't room for another plane. They could move the EAS planes over, now that they are losing flights that might be possible, to create room or I wonder if Alaska will move into the remodeled area of C, assuming they can finish it by March.
This could all be a mute point if they just move one of the flights by 90 minutes.

That means they will need another gate. They operate out of A15 now. A17 is open but right now the way they have the gates set up there isn't room for another plane. I think you are confusing A and C. A9/15/17 can all be simultaneously used by Regional Jets. I've seen them all 3 full recently I believe.
Isn't Alaska moving to A9? I think that was posted here recently.
Yes, you are correct. I edited it. It should have all said C. Thanks for catching it!
Air Canada is moving to A17 (they took the jet bridge for A9 and put it at A17). That is who was moving. Not Alaska.

They could be who the upcoming renovation in C is for along with anyone not here now. Also as their pilot issues get resolved it wouldn't be too surprising if they add a Bay Area or LA area flight in time which would make another gate more likely to get times they want. Mainly if they want to gain market share in California they would need to add routes from there and they have options on planes to here due to range. This issue is likely why Southwest has and will be really upping the west coast flights so having this competition is really helping here get more flights and competition to the west coast from here.
They did add SFO to MCI so I could see that. That said MCI doesn't have Southwest to SFO, or SJC for that matter. I would have said no to LAX because of AA on it but I think they are pretty much ending their partnership soon. It would be odd for them to have 2 gates here for just 4 flights a day.imperialmog wrote: ↑Nov 28, 2017They could be who the upcoming renovation in C is for along with anyone not here now. It will be interesting to see how the Alaska vs Southwest war in Cali pans out, especially once Southwest starts Hawaii. Southwest is giving free companion passes to anyone who signs up for their credit card in California.
Just left after a day trip and both in the morning and this evening T2 seemed far busier than I ever remember seeing.
Somewhat related note, they need to increase the cost to park in the T2 garage. It is basically full nonstop midweek. I would pay 50+ to park for the day if they let me. Real frustrating never to be able to park there or LotE really.

Any one able to get pictures of Air Force One landing at Lambert today?

I'm surprised he didn't fly into Scott AFB instead. I'd have imagined security would have been easier...stlcards311 wrote: ↑Nov 29, 2017Any one able to get pictures of Air Force One landing at Lambert today?

That's suggesting forethought, or at the very least, thought.chaifetz10 wrote: ↑Nov 29, 2017I'm surprised he didn't fly into Scott AFB instead. I'd have imagined security would have been easier...stlcards311 wrote: ↑Nov 29, 2017Any one able to get pictures of Air Force One landing at Lambert today?
Probably because this is a lot closer to where he is going than driving a motorcade (and shutting down roads) all the way from Scott to St. Charles.chaifetz10 wrote: ↑Nov 29, 2017I'm surprised he didn't fly into Scott AFB instead. They also have it parked on the newer runway so it is out of the way and by itself at least.
So we named our kid Lambert, and I'm not sure I thought that one through well enough because I'm really not liking how close his name is getting to Trump's in these headlines...
I saw PIT just got a flight to Montreal on Air Canada (express). I am curious if there is any demand here for a flight somewhere else in Canada besides Toronto. I am not sure what kind of business ties we have with Montreal. Vancouver is probably too far away. Nashville has a 2x weekly to Calgary on Westjet in the summer but I am guessing that is mostly for tourists. With Air Canada getting their own gate they would have plenty of room to add a flight. Just wondered people's thoughts on it.

Would be interesting to know how much demand is there to/from Canada from here overall. And part of their strategy would also be to feed there TATL and TPAC networks. Could be something like Montreal could be added if they need more capacity again from just recently adding a 3rd Toronto flight. (though could be next step is start upgauging) And Vancouver it may be too far for a regional jet (though if its something that is say a summer seasonal maybe it works with less headwind). Since a summer seasonal could work to Vancouver for cruise and tour groups as well as connect to their TPAC network. (could see O&D demand rising decently from there as well from startup scene)jshank83 wrote: ↑Nov 29, 2017I saw PIT just got a flight to Montreal on Air Canada (express). Other wild card in all this would be if Southwest ends up in time flying to Canada, since that would almost certainly involve here as possibly the midcontinent gateway. (DAL isn't allowed to per current Wright Amendment agreement and MDW would create big response and competition from UA/AC in ORD)
Jonesboro service will continue. After losing EAS spots of Cape, Quincy and (probably) Decatur it is good someone is sticking around.

Was there a military plane or something that flew over STL last night? I saw at least a few people on twitter asking about what flew overhead around 7:55 PM-ish.

Curious to know as well. I was on my second level at that time and it sounded like it was right outside and going to hit my house. I almost tweeted to see if anyone knew what it was. Pretty loud.
I was in a show at the Fox last night and I'm pretty sure I heard this. I assumed it was just the HVAC or something. Seemed far too loud though for a live theater.
I noticed (mainly because it is the route I fly the most) that Southwest has started adding back in STL-Oakland routes in January and March. It originally had the route take a break from January to March 15th or so. I am guessing because they weren't sure what their airplane capacity would be. Now it only is taking a break on Feb 5th to March 3rd(although there is a one off on Valentines day). All of January, except Saturdays, is back on the schedule. It is leaving at 7 am as opposed to its usual 1:45 pm time. Good to see they are adding it back in. I'll be curious to see if in the next month Feb gets added back in also.

^ That is something they have tended to do more lately. Add capacity after they publish the schedules likely due to having more planes on hand than known at the time. They never cut anything after publishing so if you are booking anything far out you don't have to worry on that.

Wonder if it was a B-2 coming to/going from Whiteman? I went to school at Central Missouri, right next to the base, so they flew overhead all the time. They're MUCH louder than you'd think - oftentimes a single B-2 is louder than several other jets.midcoaststl wrote: ↑Nov 30, 2017Curious to know as well. Those parking lots off of Springdale Ave on the southeast corner for the 170/70 interchange seem to have cars again. Wasn't that employee parking for TWA back in the heydays of the 90's and early 2000's? Who is using those lots now?
Completely agree. They are leaving money on the table and frustrating a lot of people by the lack of short term availability. Keep all the other rates the same and raise the 24 hour rate to $35 (or in that area).dabeags wrote: ↑Nov 29, 2017Just left after a day trip and both in the morning and this evening T2 seemed far busier than I ever remember seeing.
