AMZN has been rumored to eye the healthcare industry. I wonder if a strategic alliance with Centene would help STL.

If not Centene than maybe Express Scripts?

At this rate they could easily be in the fortune 100 in the next 5 years..

Ouch. Up to 1000 formerly Scottrade jobs expected to be lost in STL.

Scorched earth

"The Scottrade name will ultimately be phased out, including at the Scottrade Center downtown. In October, TD Ameritrade initially said the arena’s name will be changed to TD Ameritrade Center — the contract for the naming rights runs through 2021 — but the company is no longer pursuing renaming the center after TD Ameritrade, Hockey said.

“It doesn’t make any sense to continue with the TD Ameritrade brand (on the arena) so we’ll sell it back,” Hockey said. No changes to the arena’s name are expected before 2018, he said."

Ouch indeed,

The silver lining is maybe it will make sense for TD Ameritrade to move IT jobs downtown? Sounds like the one area that they might try to grow operations as expressed in article after taking the ax to corporate side.

Post just keeps on buying. Would love to see them make a move from their unassuming Brentwood office to a tower downtown.

Wouldn't this have been nice.... W.T.F. Charter.

Charter to build new headquarters in Connecticut

Charter Communications Inc. has committed to moving to a new 500,000-square-foot headquarters in Stamford, Connecticut, and creating 1,100 new jobs there, Gov. Dannel Malloy and the company announced Tuesday.

That ship sailed the day that Charter was bought out a few years back and the execs from Northeast said no way are we moving to St Louis. At least the execs were already in the northeast where as St Louis was pretty much screwed when SBC chief decided he wanted to live in San Antonio a few years back and to lesser extent when a fast food exec bought a horse ranch outside of Nashville

Extension of BPV thread conversation but M&A's have been brutal on St. Louis and the city/downtown in particular whether it was railroads, then telecommunications, then department stores and anything that Buffet/Omaha based companies have bought into.

Express Scripts to acquire eviCore for $3.6 billion

Express Scripts Holding Co. announced Tuesday it has agreed to acquire eviCore healthcare, a privately held medical benefit management service company, for $3.6 billion.

According to a release, Express Scripts said the deal "will create a uniquely comprehensive patient benefit management solution."

Bluffton, South Carolina-based eviCore manages medical benefits for 100 million people with a variety of MBM solutions. The company has about 4,000 employees and will operate as a standalone business unit within Express Scripts, officials said.

^Well that's good news. With their share price down almost 10% on the year, I've been kind of worried about them.

Emerson acquires GeoFields Inc, based in Atlanta with offices in Houston, which creates GIS software for energy and pipeline companies. Hard to find any consistent revenue estimates or what the company likely sold for.

A blurb from their website:

Seems unlikely. Some IT people I know at Scottrade just learned their last day is 12/15.

I would really like to see St. Louis, in turn, throw a massive relocation package at TD.

Although they just built their huge HQ outside of Omaha on Dodge, I see no reason why they are staying in Omaha. Eppley Airfield is stuck in the 1980s, the city itself is isolated.

ConAgra recently bailed on Omaha, and I believe laid off their entire operation.

If STL does not succeed in Amazon, I think a great way to continue the momentum would be to start throwing these packages at smaller companies across the midwest. Marathon Petroleum in Findlay, OH, Kelloggs in Battle Creek, Every Fortune Ranked company in Omaha, the list really goes on.

Chicago has done a great job being aggressive with these small companies, and I think it's about time STL does the same.

Anyone know if this goes through, how, if at all, the Bryan Cave merger impacts STL? I wouldn't think much, but I'm not familiar with what type of corporate non-lawyer jobs are based here.

The effect would be minimal. The firm it is discussing a merger with is entirely overseas. So, no real U.S. presence requiring additional back office or even legal support. If anything it will continue to de-emphasize St. Louis by adding London to its roster of decentralized "HQs".

That said, it seems like a good move for Bryan Cave, will move it into the top 50 in terms of revenue for law firms, and therefore makes it a stronger, bigger, more global brand and less likely to be a target of a merger itself. All of which seem good for it. So all in all good for Bryan Cave and neutral to incrementally good for St. Louis.

Emerson has made 2 offers to Rockwell Automation. Both rejected. That would be huge for Emerson and maybe STL. This could get interesting!

^Yeah, that would be awesome. Emerson's been pretty quiet the last few years. I really miss the "good old days" of Chuck Knight.
