Can someone explain exactly what Grand Center Inc. is? I have dealt with them, rented their spaces but I don't get what time of group they are. Is there another example of a group like them in the city?

I suspect its closest relative in St. Louis might be the Wash U Medical Center Redevelopment Corporation. Both are non-profits charged with overseeing the redevelopment of a district.
^Aren't they in some ways a not-for-profit land assembler? I don't mean that as a loaded term. I believe they own much of the land in and around Grand Center and have attempted over the years to prime it for redevelopment under a guided master plan. As an organization, they also then do community arts programming and streetscaping-type enhancements to try to generate activity and interest in the district.
I think they've made some significant mistakes in their history in allowing and even pursuing too much demolition in and around Grand Center, but they have also been responsible for major accomplishments over the last decade and things look to be getting brighter gradually as growth from Cortex/CWE spreads east and stability from Renaissance Grand, formerly Blumeyer Housing, is improving to their north.

I think Laclede's Landing has or had a somewhat similar arrangement as well.
Hmmm, this thread seems to have been split-up our something.
Anyway, new windows have gone in on the first couple of floors.

Work on this building seems to have come to a stop. Anyone know what's up? Is the Bull Moose Tube deal still on?

They had a hearing with the city TIF Commission this month, so I assume they're still nailing down details of the financing.
^Thanks. I guess I expected them to get to work right after the big announcement.
I just heard an update on the local NPR news; tax abatement etc. now going through the board of alderman. Good news; I was starting to worry about this whole deal.
I think you meant to post another picture. This one is of the Loft conversion at Euclid and Delmar.
PD Building blocks with an update. I don't have subscription so can't share a whole lot

It basically just adds that the project's new name will be announced Thursday.
Looks like an independent hotel as per PD Building Blocks. It also includes some basic details on phase II, parking garage on east side and apartment block infill but not sure if anything different from what has been stated beforePresbyterian wrote:It basically just adds that the project's new name will be announced Thursday.

Hotel Angad will be the name of the 145-room inn at the Missouri Theatre building the Lawrence group is redeveloping in St. Louis' Grand Center
With all due respect to Mr. Angad Paul, allow me to be the first to say "What a horrible name!".
I thought the same, but wanted to be respectful too. After all, the man did commit suicide........allegedly.framer wrote:With all due respect to Mr. Angad Paul, allow me to be the first to say "What a horrible name!".
LOL! I can always count on you to keep it real.

^ if you pronounce the a's with a schwa it sounds more distinguished and less like a barf noise.
It sounds like the parking garage on the east side of the building believe will be part of the initial $55 million phase/construction with the apartment block infill as phase II from the Building Blocks article or at least how I read it. Did I read it wrong or does something think the same?
Bull Moose going from 80 to 100 employees plus hotel guests. Can see them building the garage and securing spaces for the development now. Would probably equate to $6-8 million of the $55 million in cost. The best part, I think it is a reasonable assumption that phase II is much more likely to happen and Lawrence Group will be able to put some Grand Center infill in that is not a parking structure.

Lord Paul of Marylbone
Starting to sound like elements and characters of a Mike Judge series.

A $100,000 building permit was issued for this project this week so it looks like it will begin in earnest. (I believe extensive interior already has been completed.)
Is this still happening? Long delay it seems after they cleaned the site.

This is the Bull Moose HQ, correct? I believed they were moving in relatively soon?
