Neat story - nice get for the near north side - Bissingers is going to increase their SF by like 8 times - Looks like they are going to open the facility to the public - tours - maybe some type of outlet retail - 12 million renovation

I wonder if them leaving FPSE/CWE has anything to do with Cortex expansion

Not Cortex directly, but yes, the coming massive influx of retail/etc. makes the site attractive for development.

I would love for the city to focus on developing N. Broadway, what a wonderful stretch of historic warehouse.

^ It could be a really funky light industry/artist loft type neighborhood. Nice to see more jobs, too. Hopefully some will come from the general area.

PostSep 13, 2013#5

Looking at the location a bit more closely, this really is a great spot. It basically is just around the corner from FarmWorks, which in turn is adjacent to the Cotton Belt Building. So there is a cool hub there that should lead to more interesting development in the area and lead to nice stop-off for N. Riverfront Trail.

Really from downtown on up to Produce Row/Saint Louis Ave., N. Riverfront/Broadway has a lot of potential for becoming a unique, truly awesome neighborhood./destination.

Totally agree, great point about Farm Works. Also, Smoki O's BBQ!

^ Have you been?

Maybe we need to "Grove" this area and brand it "NoBro".

"NoBro" might not be well-accepted by the African-American community.

Agreed. Drove this stretch earlier this week to check the new bridge out and I kept thinking to myself the same thing.

^ I know the North Riverfront redevelopment plans emphasize industry/jobs and probably rightfully so, but hopefully there is enough space in the southern portions to also leave some room for more funky stuff.

I thought "NoBro" was an attempt to ban drinking establishments selling buckets of beer to 28-year old white males who wear their "button-up" shirt tucked in on just one side with their baseball caps backward while reminiscing about high school sports.

Way to go alienate every demographic all at the same time.

I guess Novaks could locate there.

For North Broadway, I suspect No-Fro, No-Bro and No-Broad could all seem ... um ... shall we say ... exclusionary. We need something more positive.

Maybe something like Nor-Way?

Think about it. They haven't invaded anyone in centuries, they have a high standard of living, and no one really dislikes them.

^ I'm really hoping it helps lead to more creative re-use in the area... with Farmworks and a couple other cool projects, it is taking some semblance of a unique district.

Has anyone been to the Caramel Room http://www.saucemagazine.com/blog/?p=37417 or taken a tour of the factory? I like seeing the Bissinger's sign from the Stan. I hope this stretch of Broadway takes off.
