Following! (Please residential on that huge parking lot)

I’m hoping for some kind of mixed village and features under the train shed. The complex would be so much cooler if you got off the metrolink and entered an entire area filled with things, instead of the weird parking lot. Plus, the shed roof is pretty rad and would make for a cool experience.
It won’t be that now (I think they will explore eventually) but excited anyways.

Would love to see a walkable plaza surrounded by shops in recreated Mill Creek buildings. Even if it's Six Flags vibes that is fine. Make the plaza area convertible to a large ice rink in the winter. Enough people probably come in for the Polar Express train rides to keep it afloat alone.
Throw in a farmers market kind of area where people can come sell their stuff to tourists, convert it to a Christmas market in the winter.

Can you divulge whether it’s an attraction or something else and how soon we can expect to hear about it?dbInSouthCity wrote: ↑Jan 03, 2025Finally got an update on the Union station upcoming announcement. Hopefully soon but it’s really cool

^Hoping for that US German Beer Festival returning that was delayed by Covid

I think we have a lot of German beer festivals in the US

Sounds like an event and not a development. Still cool

I know this is wild fantasy but with the ties between the Blues and City SC ownership and how their seasons mostly overlap to give year round events, Union Station would be a great middle ground for the teams to combine to do their own mixed use development on and around.

Union Station needs to repaint these letter signs. They look terrible and I can't imagine it would be particularly expensive to get done.

^Heh! I have that t-shirt . . . literally. (I very much suspect Cranky Flier used one of mine uncredited. I still bought the t-shirt.)
Thanks for putting your stuff out there.

I assume this is the attraction that Denis has been hinting at for the past few months.
"Also on Thursday, O’Loughlin announced a new Harry Potter attraction slated for Union Station. He said details are to be worked out, but that Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc., which holds the rights to the franchise, was enticed by the success of Polar Express experience at Union Station. "

All they're probably doing is bringing the stuff down from Chicago that was in Water Tower Place.

Themed stuff like this is exactly what Union Station needs IMO. It should really be free tourism for downtown.
I thought this might be the Chicago thing too until the line about being impressed with the holiday train. If STL gets a permanent (at least 5 years) Harry Potter or Hogwarts Express experience…STL is printing money.
What would be best would be something similar to Universal’s recent Chicago announcement, “Universal Horror Unleashed”. Described as “interesting mazes, jump scares, funky food-and-drink options and a retail space, the planned immersive attraction has been deemed “a world-class horror attraction and entertainment destination” according to city officials.”
It’s estimated it’ll bring in maybe $1B to the local economy and create 400 permanent jobs.

We would literally be getting people coming to STL just for the train- if it does turn out to be something like that.addxb2 wrote: ↑Jul 11, 2025I thought this might be the Chicago thing too until the line about being impressed with the holiday train. I like it. It’s the sort of thing that helps bring more middle class midwestern and near south families to St Louis for an affordable weekend vacation. We’ve relied a lot on that type of tourism historically.
