East-West Gateway pesentation last Monday to discuss and solicit feedback concerning a proposed Union Station / Civic Center TOD district.

If you weren't able to make the meeting, you can take the survey here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/BVP3367.

General study area. (I don't think the idea is to bulldoze the Drury... this is just a diagram.)

They're asking for feedback about this area. Some of the questions:

Do we need more parking or less?

What should a reworked 20th St. interchange look like? A grand entrance boulevard for Downtown, a normal street grid, the status quo, total elimination?

Should Clark and Spruce Steets become the center of a residential district? Should the 20th Street corridor be reserved for big box retailers like Target or (ahem) Ikea?

Or should Clark be mainly bars, clubs and restaurants, with residential in the 20th Street corridor?

Or should the 20th Street corridor be all office?

Should the Gateway Mall be extended two more blocks west?

Extend the Gateway Mall? As if it's crowded, or completely developed, or...what would two more dead blocks get us? What's needed is a nice terminus to the mall - a signature office building. IMO - the interchange should revert to the street grid and the "grand entrance" as it were, should be focused on Jefferson.

Well, that sounds a lot like how I voted, too.

I love how these drawings propose actually developing the land south of the highway into something for real.

I hope everyone takes this survey. Very cool things are happening here and feedback is important.

I really hope that once the CAR work is done the Gateway Mall Conservancy can get back some momentum on building out the Master Plan. Activating the blocks of the mall near Union Station would go hand in hand with any TOD for Union Station area.
