I really hope UMSL is successful with this, right now Atlanta dominates in this field, and it would be great to see STL have the same success.
In a report released last year, Greater St. Louis Inc., the region's lead economic development agency, said the metro area has the potential to become a technology hub with particular strengths in fintech, agtech and geospatial, but only if employers can find enough workers to fill their skill needs. The average pay at a fintech start-up was $112,260 per year as of Sept. 8, according to ziprecruiter.com.

"It would be interesting to see part of the curriculum focus on the different verticals of fintech," said Cory Bricker, a vice president and general manager of CassPay, part of Des Peres-based Cass Information Systems. It holds the distinction of being both a 115-year-old bank and a fintech. "That includes fintechs that focus on payments, lending and compliance/regulations."

That is a pretty ignorant comment.
Have you ever shopped from a small business or farmer's market vendor that took your credit card payment using Square? That is Fintech (actually, St. Louis-owned fintech).
Have you ever used PayPal or Venmo to transfer money to a friend or family while avoiding having to wire a cheque or expensive bank wire fees? That is Fintech.
Have you ever transferred or received money from abroad using TransferWise to avoid massive bank fees? That is Fintech.
Fintech is not the same as crypto and has contributed to disrupting the low competition status quo among US financial institutions, to the benefit of consumers and households.

Fintech literally means financial technology. Very wide term. Yes crypto is fintech but fintech isn't just crypto
