Same here. Pops reminds me of the Double Deuce from "Road House" before Patrick Swayze cleaned it up. Any bar that has metal detectors can't be a good bar.
St. Louis could really use a 24 hour district. It could be home to all sorts of entertainment, although I'm sure that at 4 am it will be very smutty, but whatever. That's fine with me.
^i think 3am is plenty, and there is always the east side if you really need to keep going. I do wish metro link operated trains 24 hrs though. Even if it is just one train every 30 minutes.

I agree. St. Louis and Missouri already have some of the most lax liquor laws in the nation. Outside of Las Vegas and New Orleans: what other major cities have 24 hour drinking areas? Let the crazies funnel to the East Side.
You might be able to convince me about 24 hour bars and open containers on The Landing: but you'd need to sell me on it.

It just doesn't have the ridership demands. Even in Chicago I think the Red Line is the only 24/7 line. I think the Blue line is close to it, but goes dark for 2 or 3 hours IIRC.
If there were any 24 hour district, the Landing would be the one. Especially if they build Lumiere Phase II and Drury Tower. All the proposed improvements to the Landing can help make it popular again (I don't know even one person who thinks the Landing is cool) and the 24 hour thing would really help give it an extra push. If it's people's only option besides Illinois, well, I think they'll be willing to resort to the Landing for it. It's just that the Landing right now isn't that fun.

That would be kind of cool for the landing and it would make it unique and could make it stand out in a city full of bars. Also the bars should have lots of neon signs too and even try to make the district known for it. I would like to see almost all of the buildings in the landing converted to residential but keep metro there for the day time traffic. It could be an cool and different micro neighborhood and some thing different for the city and region. Sorry to ramble but my mind got thinking
The Landing has potential. It just has too many vacant lots and so much parking it's ridic'. Maybe the new garage should have free parking at certain times, i.e. after the Arch is closed, so the late night crowd looking for stuff to do in the City will choose to go to the Landing because it will be easy to find a space, especially as the other parking lots are developed as well. It also needs more to do than just hit up bars, a casino and a strip club.
It needs a Ready Room of its own. It could use a Bomb Door. It could use a Pageant or Tivoli. It doesn't have the gay bar scene of the Grove or the Mexican food scene of Cherokee. No matter what route is chosen, a new identity of some kind of another needs to be adopted by the Landing. I picture it having a large concentration of dispensaries and affiliated businesses when marijuana is decriminalized or legalized in Missouri. THAT would make it popular, as long as they have MORE than other areas and that theirs are the BEST ones. Add Lumiere Phase II in there and maybe some kind of boat and it would be pretty hoppin'.
And what ever happened to that ferris wheel that was proposed awhile back?
