I think the 10th and Locust hotel proposal is unnecessary. I don't think there is demand for one nor do I want to see those smaller buildings go. If it's true that they can't be saved and MUST meet the wrecking ball, then I guess we will have to accept that. No matter what, those parcels should be apartments instead of hotel rooms, whether in the current buildings or newer ones. The Millennium Hotel could also become apartments if the demand for more housing Downtown is still high in a few years. On the other hand, if we got an MLS team, demand for hotel rooms will increase and perhaps it would make more sense to go the hotel route over apartments.

An MLS team probably wouldn't generate a whole lot of hotel demand. Attendance at MLS games is about comparable to the NHL, except there are only 17 homes games instead of the NHL's 41.

Love to see the smaller building at the corner of Locust and 10th turned into some little art gallery or a little irish themed pub .. Are there plans to still do some beautification on that block ?

Really? Just 17? I guess I really don't know much about soccer. I don't care much about it, either. I want an MLS team not because I personally have an interest in the sport itself but rather because of what it will do for the City.

Nice to see all of the awnings gone from the upstairs windows. Really looks good. Thanks for the update.

Wow. This renovation looks incredible. I need to get down there to check it out. Did they renovate the rooftop pool as well?

I stayed there last weekend. No mention of the rooftop pool, so I'm guessing it's not been reno'ed. But they're still knocking around in there doing work. I believe they're cutting a new elevator shaft in the ground floor to give staffers better access to the basement kitchen and other back of house facilities. And maybe putting an escalator in to get up to the ballrooms and conference rooms.

My room was really nice. And the service was super friendly. They've done a great job. It's not a total gut job, some elements I think have been kept over (i.e. The bathrooms didn't seem brand spanking new) or just shined up/painted over, but all-in-all they've done a really nice job. The lobby, lounge, reception area, and bar are particular highlights.
