I couldn't find another thread for this.

"The Lido" is being proposed across from St. Ambrose church on Marconi. Includes 7 residential condos and 3 office condos. Very unique for the hill. There is a sign with a rendering on the fence around the site. If anyone has anymore information please post.

Well, what did the rendering look like?

Chicago-style condo development?

Brick-facade-with-vinyl siding historicist treatment?

Something contemporary, like the new infill on Macklind near Southwest?

Something surprising entirely?

If it's anything like previous infill development on The Hill, I won't get my hopes up.

I know, weak post from me. I was meaning to get a picture and better details before I left town but was only able to read about it on the trip to Amighetti's.

From what I remember, It appeared to be around 3 stories, white stucco with green trim around windows and doors, etc. I wasn't overly impressed. The only thing I remember being impressed by was the general massing, as it is positioned between two existing buildings and comes right up to the sidewalk and directly against the two existing buildings to either side. It also says "The Lido" in big green letters, but it isn't centered above the door, rather it seems thrown in between two windows on the left side of the building (major afterthought, imo). It also only advertised 2 bed 2 bath units.

There's quite a bit of infill going up on The Hill these days. Seems to be a hot neighborhood.

I found more information on this development. Looks like it is being done by DiMartino. Retail on the first floor so that is always nice to see. Here is the link to their site.

The PDF on that site has even more details. I love the added density. I believe someone mentioned this earlier, but I don't think there was anything torn down for this.

Wow, what a terrible rendering.

Bad technique aside, the building itself should fit in nicely. It's got that Faux-Mediterranean look going, and the massing matches many of the existing commercial buildings on The Hill.

Anyone else think it's about time for the Hill 2000 organization to do a little updating?

yes it is.

OK, going OT

It looks like a lot of architectural renderings are still done with markers/watercolors. Is that true or is there software that replicates 'markers.'

(in the graphics/markeitng business, it's stock photos and photoshop. You rarely see marker comps anymore.)

thanks

Any news on this? Has it broken ground?

I'm not a huge fan of this design, but it works and I'd love to see the Hill fill up with these kinds of buildings.

It looks like a sh*tty hotel along a busy street in a resort area of Mexico.

There was nothing there other than a sign and an empty lot back during the Giro di Montagna.

Well it has been six months. I was not able to drive by my last time in town. Anything happening here or did this one stall?
