Thanks Chris, I forgot to mention the Shell building in that mix.   Didn't the developers close on purchase recently so that might right up there between Moxy and Chemical building?

The other thought that came across is didn't Wells Fargo Securities have a building in their west downtown mix that they are divesting and could be another hotel proposal that fits well into the Jefferson Ave/NGA/MLS mix.   Heck, I wonder if LHM is looking hard at what it can do in addition to their current rooms under the Union Shed.

Shell will probably be first before Moxy. Everything is practically ready to go with that one. But we will see.

Not sure about Wells Fargo. I remember seeing that somewhere on this Forum, but who knows what’s going on with that.

I think it would be better for LHM to build a new hotel on that parking lot to the West of Union Station. They own that lot. It would do them some good and they wouldn’t have to cram everything under the train shed. I guess we will see how this all plays out between now and 2022. The area around the MLS stadium will almost certainly get some plans (big and small).

Moxy - front runner as per Chris follow up (I'm taking hotel in CWE on York Ave as already broken ground)
Jeff Connector? - not too far behind with NGA under construction, Jeff Ave improvements and a shiny new MLS stadium in 2022
Iron Hill? - certainly got a developable spot ready to go, incentives ready to go, and a big shiny new hospital next door
McKay - Lafayette Square development?
Armory?
Drury - where are you in all the city action?
Old Muni gets revived
Not that I want to defend Drury, but they already have four hotels downtown, five in the city overall.  And they could probably all use a healthy dose of modernization before they consider adding rooms.

^ Good point

But I guess that is part of my thinking on Drury right now.  They have seemed to have settled for status quo at the moment or gone missing in action when market is adding rooms/renovating rooms whereas I think they should be doing something sooner or letter.  As you note, go in on a healthy dose of modernization.   Especially when you consider that the four downtown hotels are or will be next to a major convention center renovation and a new MLS stadium because their is certainly rooms by adding across the street from their properties.  Or, go all in on a new hotel hotel/residential/office development on the landing.  Or, all of the above

Shell building is stuck in the same wait for Historic Tax Credit approval at the State as everyone else is in.

The Chase Park Plaza lobby renovation has been done for awhile now. Overall, I like it. Nothing too crazy. It's a very muted light blue and grey scheme.
The best part is definitely the map of St. Louis behind the concierge desk. the renovation is carried through all the way to the movie theater entrance on Lindell. The movie theater space itself hasn't changed. The touchups also seemed to exclude the bar space (The Sidecar?) just inside the pool. I'm guessing they're waiting for a long term plan for this space before replacing the carpet, wallpaper, etc. If I poke my head in again, I'll see if I feel audacious enough to get photos.
I've also been keeping my eye on the google maps reviews. Sonesta seems to be doing a good job.

As for the Le Meridien, downtown. They're taking their sweet time. The lobby is still about 60% complete. Obviously I can't see into the upper floors but guessing by the number of windows that are still open during thunderstorms, I'm not feeling great about this schedule. i'd be surprised if they're open by Christmas.

Cool little video about Hotel St. Louis and it’s restoration. It’s a bit older so my apologies if it’s already been posted here.

Update from the BJ on the Chase Park Plaza's renovation.  Pictures included, though they kind of look like renderings.  I don't believe it's pay-walled, so all should be able to see it.

Not renderings, but they are heavily processed photos. Looks like someone went for an HDR look after the fact and got a bit heavy-handed with the filters.

That said, they do look nice and the room reno was needed, if my anecdotal experience is anything to go by. We staycationed there a couple of years ago and the room we were in, although nice, did feel a bit tired.

A few of them look very rendered / photoshopped, especially the toilet. But they're definitely photos. Their instagram has some great before & afters. https://www.instagram.com/chaseparkplaza/

Here’s a rundown from the PD about the hits local hotel projects are taking with the Covid crisis.
https://www.stltoday.com/business/local ... t-Dispatch

A few quick highlights. Hawkeye is still going to have Le Méridien completed on time and the Moxy is still in the design phase and as of yet has not been shelved.

The Shell, YMCA (21c), and AC on York did not return requests for comments about the progress of their hotels which had all just gotten underway right before this started.

The Gills were supposed to close on the Chemical at the end of March but according to them that project is “up in the air.”

Midas is still completing their hotels in Cortex on schedule (though they will open later now) and remain “very bullish” on St. Louis in the long run.

In addition to the CVC, hotel operators desperately want the city to move forward on the convention center expansion.

Le Meridien looks amazing btw. At least the lobby does. The upper windows are still pretty messy although I'm hoping they just need a final cleaning. I'm surprised to see that it's supposed to be completed "on time". The site has been super quiet the last 6 weeks and it's not like they were on an aggressive schedule before this. They could have had this done by December 2019 if they wanted.

That building just can't catch a break.

One of the nicest in the entire city and can just never seem to get going.

Hotel situation is still pretty rough...but it appears some operators see a light at the end of the tunnel:
In the first week of April, revenue per available room (RevPAR), a standard benchmark for hotels, plummeted 85.2% compared to the same period last year. By the end of the month, the decline was just 76.7%. Occupancy was 24.4% by the last week of April, an improvement from the first week when occupancy fell to 18.7%, according to data from STR, a global hotel research firm.

While the numbers are still dismal compared to a normal year, it lends credence to hoteliers' beliefs that the economy is slowly returning. Meanwhile, an upward trend in future bookings leads them to believe that the "hype" of an extended work-from-home culture me be just that.
"Our reservations are already trending up. Even my friends who I call road warriors are getting back on the road," said Amy Gill, CEO of Restoration St. Louis, which owns Hotel Saint Louis in downtown St. Louis. "Everyone recognizes we have to do business."

That sentiment is shared by other hoteliers, including Maryland Heights-based Midas Hospitality CEO David Robert and Brentwood-based Equis Hotels CEO Mike Mullenix.

"This shift in more people working from home doesn't mean they aren't traveling," Robert said. "Business travel will be the first to come back. People will want and need to travel.”

I just saw on Google Maps that the former Sheraton / City Center / Red Lion Hotel is now OYO Rooms. I looked into it a bit and this isn't making me feel good at all about the future of this building. OYO Rooms appears to be an extremely cheap hotel chain based in India. A quick Google image search result was very disappointing. For those that aren't familiar, this is the building near the Enterprise Center with the large murals on it. I believe it was originally a JC Penney warehouse. The hotel is in terrible condition, the owners have let it go to garbage just like they did for the Crowne Plaza / City Place Hotel at the Mansion House complex. Needless to say the online reviews are the worst in downtown STL.

Maybe they have some magic business model that can turn this hotel around but I'm not hopeful. We're likely stuck with those nasty brown awnings along 14th street for a few more years, at least.

I think that building is about due for a refresh on those murals, but it sounds like that's the least of the concerns we have going forward.

OYO is my usually a cheap motel brand you see along a highway or in a place like Branson.

If I owned a condo in that building I’d be ticked.

And the murals are the least likely to see any touch ups moving forward.  Even if OYO is open to sprucing up the exterior (which, I don't think we have any reason to believe this is true since they're not exactly investing on the interior either), I would bet they would simply paint over them.

At the corner of 10th and Olive there's a bathtub that's been there for years, the entirety of the construction project. It's full of black sludge. The birthplace of millions of mosquitoes.

I can't help but notice it every time I walk past.

I assume the ribbon cutting ceremonies for Le Meridien will start removal  will start there.

Really?  I walk by there once a day at least and there is no chance in hack they’ll be done by November....unless they plan to leave the cracking plaster on the outside of the building and do no exterior improvements

Didn't see a post about it anywhere by the Parkway Hotel in the Central West End is now a "Doubletree by Hilton". New signs are up too. Not sure how recent it is, but it caught my eye the other night.
